Solid pick up for sure. If we miss out on a back up forward then I might say he would've nice for us, but in general bringing guys like him back is something I rather don't. Same with Patterson.
Damn Golden State. Damn them all to Hell! (A bow to Mr. Heston) Casspi AND Young? Nice signings, nice depth, and it's driving me freakin' crazy.
The easy solution to all this from a competitive standpoint is hard-cap-no-max. However...the NBA isn't concerned with competitiveness.
I doubt that Casspi and Young will have many meaningful minutes... except maybe if some of the rotation players get injured. Curry Thompson Durant Green Pachulia Igoudala Livingston Clark They aren't going to crack that rotation.
People say this, but come up with a realistic alternative that doesn't amount to the comish going full dictator. Not that easy.
You named 8 players... they could easily be the last 2 in that 10. Both hit 40+% from 3 last year on bad offenses if I'm not mistaken. Both are underrated moves, and players I'm surprised the Rockets didn't nab.
Casspi will probably get 5 to 10 garbage minutes that was going to Klay and Livingston last year. They didn't have enough small last year to play garbage minutes and ended up playing Klay or Livingston extra 5 minutes of garbage times, that's why they signed Calderon and then released him 30 minutes later
Casspi and Young will absolutely get minutes. In the playoffs maybe not as much but for sure in the regular season. The Warriors will have huge leads in the 4th and no reason to play their starters
I'm sure they'll have plenty of opportunities to play in the 4th quarter in blowout games. But garbage minutes aren't meaningful minutes I was talking about. They won't be able to crack the rotation without injuries. Their top 7 guys are too good. And the next 2, 3 guys aren't chopped livers either.
The 9th and 10th guys on any team won't play much outside of some spot minutes or garbage time. No coach plays a 10-man rotation.
