I've always liked Patrick Patterson and would love to have him back on the Rockets one day, although I agree that he shouldn't be a starting PF unless the rest of the lineup is really strong (or you have a better offensive PF coming off the bench).

I also find it amusing that the haters are killing the Rockets for not getting enough of a return for what Patterson turned out to be. The fact is, he (and subsequently Thomas Robinson - at the time a more tradeable "commodity") was cleared out for the best ZERO SALARY return the Rockets could get at the time.

The REAL return for Patterson/Robinson was DWIGHT HOWARD. Those salaries had to be cleared out in order to offer Dwight the max. No way Dwight signs here in 2013 without that max cap room.

If he were as good as you claim, surely he'd have a place somewhere in the NBA?

Dude can't shoot for ****, has shaky handles and is no good besides a few flashy plays. Overall a very limited player who had zero potential to get better

Not sure if you're evaluating him honestly or vastly over-rating him because he is another one of those Euro scrubs that you seem to love

The same people were criticising Morey for drafting ppatt in the first place

I think he is a nice 12 man who has some value.....but way better than Brewer.

It's a classic "what have you done for me lately".

Bimathug, as usual, brings some context into the picture. The same folks complaining now would still be complaining if we had 2 roster spots and x amount of money tied up in 2pat and marcus morris. "Morey tied up our future for a soft PF and a tweener!111!!1! Ter Tuh Der".

Well, that Dwight Howard move played out rather less well than we hoped. Should have kept Pat and tried next season to get a better and better liked/respected around the league 2nd max player. :)

Outside of Terry that describes our entire team and org...

Dang this is salt in the wound, we wasted 3 years of Harden's prime with Howard....would have been better if this was a Pau and Nene result instead.

Ariza too, yes, he is the only one I think really counts as he was a regular player, Terry was a guy off the bench and Brewer end of bench in his.

Ariza though was a key contributor.

    Leslie - not so much.

well, taking the potential finalist Cleveland to 2-2 in the Conference Finals is doing more than what the Houston version of Dwight and Harden were doing

    Not saying much though.

I am ok with the trade but the Rockets subsequently failed to even draft another Patterson

Royce White, Lamb and Jones were not better than Patterson, DMo on a good day maybe

Lol, no clearly better player, that is an embarrassment

Harden also wasted 3 years of Harden's prime as well.

Well, from hindsight, Dwight Howard turned out to be a waste of time and money. 3 years later, we are back to square one.

Only two PFs we've had after Patterson could be arguably better than him:

Motiejunas -- Took a long time to develop and then got a potentially career-shortening injury.

Beasley -- unpredictable, the opposite of PPat's stability.

Well to be fair, Dwight was a player worth the gamble over the alternative.

What if DMo and TJones never had the injuries? Would we be telling tells of how well Morlarly finds talent consistently in the draft?

How many rosters in the NBA have former Rockets undersized PFs? That number has got to be in double digits.

It's the tax-payer MLE, which is the maximum that OKC can offer without incurring the hard cap.

Disappointed that the Rockets can't get him. He would be a great fit over there (and here) on a team with stars who can create spot-up opportunities.
