...the Celtics have to waive him now that they've signed Gordon Hayward. Maybe we could sign & trade for him using our non-guaranteed contracts plus Onuaku and a future 2nd rounder? 4 years, $51M? He would be an ideal fit in our big man rotation.
We failed in our pursuit of Chris Paul George Perhaps we will be successful with Ryan Kelly Olynyk...
If available it would a nice pick up. The guy can play inside outside game for a big in this modern day NBA. The guy can even play tough and get under the skin of players to throw them off their game.
Solid role player. Annoying prick that gets under your skin. I will gladly take him over some of the scrubs names we have been getting linked to lately.
He will cost too much, reports of Hayward to Celtics aren't official, he's soft, can't rebound or play defense.
He's only someone I look at if Ryan Anderson leaves. Otherwise too redundant. I know he can play inside a bit more and as a 5 but the defensive issues still makes him hard to play with Anderson
He's not really a 5. ESPN's scouting report on him says that "Olynyk isn't a shot-blocking threat whatsoever and is better suited to defending power forwards. Physical players can give him trouble in the post, but Olynyk is capable of chasing smaller players around on the perimeter."
i like 7 footers who shoot 37% career from 3pt and are also excellent passers. But i had a very high ceiling on this guy when he came out, and he's definitely underachieved. I guarantee you 2 years ago, no way Boston ever dreamed they'd end up waiving this guy for nothing or dealing him for a bag of peanuts.
I don't think they're waiving him, just renouncing his rights making him an UFA..... I believe they can still go over the cap to resign him and smart.....
