This is his second year in the league. He's a PF/C, and his rookie year last season, he played in 18 games and averaged 13 minutes per game. In those 13 minutes per game, he averaged:

    8.2 pts, 4.7 reb, 36.8% 3pt% and 59.5% TS%.

So in those 13 mpg, he had the per 36 production of:

    22.8 pts, 13.1 reb, 24.1 PER

That is an all-star rate of production in the minutes he played. Obviously that's not to say he'd average that if he played 36 mpg. But what it does say is he had that level of production in the minutes he DID play.

And he had similar numbers when he played in the D-League. In 39 games he played 29.5 minutes per game and averaged:

    20.2 pts, 11.1 reb, 57.8% TS%, 24.0 PER

He was also one of the most productive players in the Summer League last year.

I'm not sure if he was picked up by Morey as only a non-guaranteed contract to use in a trade, or if he picked him up because he thinks he's a productive young player that may be able to fill that 3rd string big man role. Because he's had great production at every level he's played at.

He may be this year's 2nd string big when Nene sits out like Harrell was last season or like Tarik Black was in the recent past.

I'll temper my expectations given his uncertain future and the fact that the last young & promising player we picked up from Philly turned out to be a dud (KJ).

That said, if you can believe this - take a deep breath - he has a higher rebounding rate than Anderson. And has three point range.

Dang a bench player with good per 36 stats. Very rare and significant.

Well, Moarny did give up a 2nd rounder to get him. It was just cash considerations given up. I say he sticks around and is a productive role player.

Perhaps in the flurry of moves we made to begin the FA Frenzy, Long and Uthoff were actually meant to compete for roster spots. Given we gave up a lot of our youth for CP3, this might be DM taking flyers on guys he thinks have potential. Good post!

Long is nice. He should be retained. I don't see anything special in Uthoff though.

I was actually thinking about this guy since we traded a 2nd for him...i was talking with a friend of mine who's a Sixers fan, and he told me he saw him just a little last season and he reminded him a bit of Holmes. Hope it turns out to be true lol.

I agree. Seen him play a couple times with the sixers and once in person. High Energy guy, can be useful for 10 minutes a night.

He's on the SL roster, so they must at least want to take a look at him

Well, he was being productive with TJ Mcconellas his point guard. I would also expect an upgrade on production.
