Melo was semi decent under Karl in Denver doe........ It's tough to be the lone guys in Madison Square Garden. Ask Stats.
Cancer? No one called him a cancer till he got to a woefully dreadful ran Knicks franchise. In Denver you can argue that he carried a talent deprived Nuggets squad to multiple playoff runs that that were cut short by extremely talented Kobe led Lakers teams for the most part. If he can bring back that fire as a young Melo or even Olympians Melo he'll be a great asset to a championship contender. Chris Paul is definitely key in having him push for a trade out of NYC but Harden is also doing his own recruiting and will be key in gaining Memo's confidence in how great he would be here in Houston. He'll need to know his role and be able to welcome scrutiny and deference to his teammates. If he does that, he'll be able to attain championships in all key basketball rings.
melo would dominate as the 3rd guy... the PnR with him and cp3 or harden would be devastating... other than AI who was passed his prime and a PG version of melo, what star has he played with that actually brought the best out of him? i see USA melo if he played here and not DEN/NY melo
I'm not gonna lie - I stopped reading after you said Melo is an underachiever considering you have a Josh Smith avatar. That just doesn't sit right with me.
I know - he was a poor man's Lebron when he was locked in....and just a bum when he wasn't. He is one of the biggest underachiever in the NBA ever and those glimpses of him dominating a game on both ends(like in the playoffs against the Clippers) are proof of that.
Josh smith was never a poor mans lebron. I dont believe Josh smiths ceiling was as high as you think. He was an athletic freak. Most of the time, people are way too impressed by athletic freaks. Athletic freak does not equal basketball skills. Looks like tarzan, plays like jane
He was a poor man's Lebron in he second half of that Clippers game 6. I stand by the claim he was a disappointment as a player. The hope was he would be a better version of Lamar Odom in his prime. The reality was he had quarters/games of brilliance that nearly balanced out otherwise terribly inefficient play.
Does anyone remember the fact that Denver once had Allen Freakin Iverson? Melo was never a successful 1st man Ever in his career. The real problem is it is unclear whether he knows that.
Melo lead the 09 Nuggets to the WCF. Lost to Kobe. Iverson was not on that team. Core was jr smith, Martin, nene, birdman, and billups
