Houston In: Carmelo Anthony, Kyle O'Quinn
If the Rockets can't sign Chris Paul to an extension, I can totally see this happening.

If we aren't getting melo it's no reason to trade Anderson, revisit trade deadline or next summer keep him we have no other 4s that can make a 3

I see cp3 playing 30-32mpg and harden being dropped to 32-34mpg. Lots of time for more guard play minutes.

My belief is the minutes distribution will be much more distributed through the bench with ego getting around 28-32mpg.

During the regular season of course. Come playoffs it's an 8man rotation and heavy minutes.

Instead of George and Russ going to LA.
It'll be Melo and Cp3 to NY

Lmao. Ok, playing dumb are we. Everybody in the league see how bad the Knicks are. Their GM's make bad decisions, their coaching is horrible, their players are disgruntled. You putting this ALL on Melo is laughable. Rose, Porzingis, Melo were all unhappy there. The whole team was upset with running the triangle. Jeff hornacek couldn't control his players. Phil's out here falling asleep while scouting. The roster had no cohesiveness. Yet if Carmelo would've just done more, this could've been prevented? How ridiculous is that

Even if paul, harden and Melo didn't win rings I'd still be very excited to have a super team. It will be fun to watch, I can only imagine all the crazy plays will see. Great time to be a Rockets fan if this happens

There's more to the game of basketball than just scoring. In what area does Carmelo contribute other than putting the ball into the basket? Even that he does it inefficiently, smh. No wonder why his advanced stats suck, because most of those stats try to capture the 'net total impact' of a player, not just points per game, and by that metric, yes Carmelo is FAR FROM ELITE.

Yup but I would think we'd make the CFinals at the very least and play well against GSW.

I don't sweat the "only one ball" idea with these guys, Warriors make it work.

it's funny how you just solely keep putting all this blame on the Ny organization for everything, yet Melo himself made the decision to join them. now that is what's laughable. making all these excuses for what. So were you one of those that thought Kevin Love was so good in Minny? Or that Cousins is the best big in the league in Sac?

what are you even arguing here? that he's an elite player? You never answered the question. all I see is you babbling about how bad the organization is. Again if he's elite to you then you're telling us he is in the exact same category as harden, lebron, kd, curry, kawhi, westbrook. So is he?

Too late for this. Knicks ruined their chance at this by giving out crazy contracts to Noah and to a lesser extent Lee. It would take a masterful GM to unload those guys before a superstar team up could occur in NYC.

While I understand what you are trying to say, IMO the game of basketball is all about scoring. Fundamentally, it is about putting the ball through the hoop. In every game, whoever scores more points wins. The game is also dominated by superstars who have the ability to score at will. There are different ways to go about this, but at the end of the day, it comes down to the ability to put up more points than the other team.

Then you're saying Lou Williams is more important than Draymond Green. Hey, Micheal Beasley was a pretty good scorer, remember? Sorry, but there are hundreds of examples of talented scorers not making it in NBA because they lack other skills, whereas guys like Trevor Ariza can be a veteran NBA player. Carmelo happened to be one of the best scorers, so he was given his due, but ultimately never reached a truly elite status. Jerry Stackhouse once averaged 29.8 PPG. Was he a superstar? I don't think so. To me, there's very little difference between Carmelo and prime Jerry Stackhouse.

Carmelo Anthony, Jerry Stackhouse, Demar DeRozan, Andrew Wiggins... in certain circles these players are called derisively as 'empty scorers' because they bring so little value to the game compared to how much they score. Analytic guys hate these type of players, and for good reason.

melo doesn't have to be an mvp candidate to get us to the next level. he has to be an elite scorer. paul and harden are both better as facilitators first and scorers second. having a pure scorer will be a perfect fit.

don't worry about his %'s in ny. they have no shooting, spacing, or offensive rhythm at all. they also played him mostly as a SF even though he's lost some quickness. to top it off, he plays with no motivation there. houston will be a totally different situation for melo. he'll have so many open shots thats to cp and harden. he'll have motivation because he's coming here specifically to win. he'll play PF primarily which will give him a quickness advantage in 1-on-1 situations that he doesn't have against SF's anymore. plus we have cp3 to hold him accountable.

tldr; ny melo is unhappy, unmotivated, and unsupported while houston melo will be olympics melo.

One thing I don't hear a lot of people talking about is the fact that we need elite clutch scoring. We literally had none of that last year. Say what you will about Melo, but he's unquestionably one of the best clutch scorers in the NBA.

Harden and Paul have both had their moments, but when the game's on the line there are very few players in the NBA I'd want the ball in their hands more than Melo. If he came here, we'd be a much scarier team in close games than we are now.

If somehow Morey can pull off getting someone to accept Anderson and getting some assets to NY without losing Capela and preferably Gordon, that would make this team ridiculously scary. Our defense, with Tucker and Ariza on the wing has gotten better, and Melo doesn't hurt it at all when compared to Anderson.

The right deal gets us within striking distance of the Warriors if we're healthy. And it puts us firmly in the conversation for LeBron next summer if we don't win a ring this year. Extremely exciting times to be a Rockets fan.

Wouldn't be free agency without the yearly "what are the chances All the free agents end up in NYC/LA to form a super team?"

Keep up the good fight basketball media. Must suck knowing Minnesota, Denver, Houston and Oklahoma City all ended up with the prized free agents.
