Who was Melo gonna pass it too? That roster was absolute dog **** outside of Porzingis who's still green as good as he is.

Harden is an elite player full stop because he more than makes up for his defensive deficiencies. Harden usually has an elite level impact when he is on the court. Just look at his +/- numbers or advanced stats; the guy is prolific, and no criticism about his defense can dispute that fact.

Melo, on the other hand, is not very efficient and his team is not that better off when he's on the court. That's a huge problem for an 'elite' player.

The best case scenario is getting Carmelo without moving any other player than Anderson.
Is that posible? 3 way deal?
I dont know. The problen is that we dont have more assets to sweet the deal.
I believe that Capela and Gordon are staying.

Melo isn't worth any player, I'd keep Ryno over him tbh

He has never really been a good passer

Alot of you guys are wanting to keep Ryno over Melo until MDA is forced to not play Ryno because he is too slow footed and unathletic to run with the Warriors. Kevin Love was already a bad matchup for the Warriors in the finals, and Ryan Anderson would be even worse due to his poor rebounding and inconsistent shooting.

I wouldn't. Ryan isn't mentally strong enough to execute when we really need him to on the playoff stage.

    Kevin Garnett
    Ray Allen
    Paul Pierce

Between the 3 of them when they were leading their respective teams as number 1 options they had minimal playoff success and lots of seasons where they missed it all together. When they teamed up each one of them looked elite at different times. You put a guy as talented as Melo next to CP3 and Harden and he's gonna look elite. No if ands or buts about it.

Just compare these numbers to Harden's. I criticize Harden all the time (especially his playoff performance), but likening Melo to Harden is blasphemous. They are not on the same level in terms of overall impact.

This is ridiculously dumb and bias as it gets. Harden's defense is ATROCIOUS. Let's not forget the countless number of youtube videos of Harden getting OUT THE WAY like he's letting his man score. I've never seen Melo just lay down on defense like James. Yes you love the Rockets, we all do. But don't act like you care about defense now because it's Carmelo Anthony instead of James Harden. Classic flip flopping

You'd keep that 18% 3point shooting on home court too? Or his glass body which is a fall away from injury

Again, this assessment is shallow. The Knicks suck, very bad. There is no player in the league that can play for the Knicks and make them a playoff team. They suck and will continue to suck after Carmelo. If your team sucks and you're the main option, your numbers will be bad because teams can load up on you and ignore everybody else. Basketball 101 here

If Melo's teammates sucked, then his individual impact should haven be bigger, not smaller. Westbrook's team sucked too, but his impact was undoubtedly felt. The problem is, the Knicks weren't that much better when Melo was playing last year.

All these 'elite' talk is meaningless without referring to some kind of objective measure. Melo's numbers in terms of advanced stats are not pretty, because of his inefficiency and low impact, and is the reason why some analytic guys don't really regard Melo as an elite player.

I have hated and ridiculed Melo all my life but I am willing to give him a chance with Harden and CP on the team because of CP's leadership qualities and mainly because gambling on Melo gives us the most realistic chance of competing with Warriors.

Without Melo we don't stand a chance. With Melo we might have a chance if things work out.

Melo has the talent but the idiot has wasted it because of his selfishness. Rockets need to harness him like Bulls harnessed Rodman.

thats not really true. see anthony davis, kevin love in minny, cousins in sac, kemba in charlotte, kat in minny. plenty of guys putting up numbers in the league on bad teams. at some point guys have to show that they can win consistently and impact the game positively on a nightly basis if you want to be considered truly an elite player
