I don't care who they face in the World Series, as long as they get there (not at all a given) and WIN (seriously not a given).

Chris Carter struck out with the winning run on 3rd and 1 out in extra innings for the Yankees. However, fellow former Astros great Ronald Torreyes picked him up with the game winning single to center fielder Carlos Gomez to win.

On a related note, screw the Rangers.

    It’s over for Chris Carter.

The struggling first baseman was designated for assignment after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Friday’s game. Tyler Austin will be called up to take his place and ostensibly will get the lions share of the first base time for now.

Carter was signed to a one-year deal for $3.5 million.

Carter hit .204 with eight homers and 23 RBI. Austin is 6-for-15 with three homers and 11 RBI over his last four games in Triple-A.

Don't have to. When DFA'd, it means you are being assigned to the minor leagues, but to get to the minors you have to pass through waivers. A player has to accept it the first time it happens, but can reject the assignment in the future and become a free agent.

He was never not under contract with the Yankees, he just wasn't on their 40 man roster anymore and no other team wanted him on their roster.

Folty has put together a string of very good starts for ATL. He took a no-hit bid into the 9th his last time out.

He is only 25 so there's always a chance for a breakout but overall this season hasn't really shown any improvement over previous seasons. FIP still 4.66.

Neshek has been pitching well and since every team needs a representative and the Phillies suck, he was the most logical choice.

Valbuena just hit one 454 feet against the Twins. Barely cleared the fence.

The prospect guy over at fangraphs just said Jacob Nix (5th rounder not signed due to Aiken fiasco) is in his Top 100.

Considering Aiken and Marshall are pretty much non-prospects at this point it's no question the Astros got a great break out of all of that.

Good for Nix. None of that was his fault.

Disappointed that he held it against us though (not that we shouldn't have communicated better).

Well the Astros were certainly responsible.

He did have to leave college early, and had to wait a year to start his career.

If you're in a car accident, and it's technically nobody's fault... you're still pissed at the situation.
