You say that, but these owners make too much as well. They bought the teams years ago for a few hundred million dollars and now they're worth billions. But the players are the ones who still make the same amount of money until recently, but when you adjust Michael Jordan's salary for inflation he is still the highest paid player in NBA history.

Your own link shows Harden worth $288M over 5 years, by 538's methodology--less than Curry. Close to Curry, though.

why would the owners care how the cap is divided?

I assumed the players wanted the low max level so the wealth would be spread around more, socialism style

otherwise, a player like LBJ would get like 70% of the cap, or more

At some point, people would stop paying to watch these guys if they were making that much because the owners pass the buck to people that buy the tickets.

I agree that the value of these players are more than what they're paid but damn, like someone said, how much money does one player need 40M? 100M? Seriously, teams and the ownership should share the wealth. Pass it down to other players/fans/help their communities. Les is a good example.

It's almost sickening how much LeBron fights for the 1 percenters in the NBA. We should be making 400 million, we aren't making enough, rest of the league be damned.

That money isn't gonna come from the owners, they are gonna get theirs. It's gonna come from the rest of the league, many of whom need that money a hell of a lot more than LeBron, and the fans who are gonna get fed up with this s**t at some point.
