Whilst that true, that doesn't explain the meltdown against OKC the year before. I mean some of this is on Blake, but then what about when Vinny was still coaching and they lost to Memphis 2-0 up.

Thanks for taking the time needed to research and compose this post. I read the whole thing and loved it. I had no idea Chris Paul was this good statistics wise. Well done.

Awesome post. A lot of those stats put side to side with the greats I didn't know about and gives me even more hope. I was a CP3 fan when he was in New Orleans and was murdering the Lakers with his midrange. He just wouldn't miss. It was all eyeball test at what he was good at but seeing the stats just solidifies everything.

You said he had no weakness (statistically). That is pre draft measurements.

I hate to be negative but he has a slight weakness but it turned him into the pitbull that he is now.

He is actually not the tallest at his position and I think his arm length is also average. (I have to check somewhere around 6'4)

But as other have said he is a Top 3 PG of Alltime so yup we have some expectations.

Very well done and this is very much a needed introduction of CP3 to the GARM. People have no idea how incredible this player is today and has been. Really felt like people here thought he was just a decent upgrade to Beverley but not world changing. For the Rockets? Yeah this completely changes the game. Morey has always wanted CP3 and your post explains why perfectly.

I really like how you pointed out he's one of the very few superstars in NBA history without a statistical weakness. I would say Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard are approaching that level, though I'd say their one missing aspect compared to CP3 is they aren't nearly as much of a play-maker/floor leader as Chris. LeBron is already there too really once he improved his shooting recently.

I was going to post something very similar about Marcus Thornton.

    Great job, OP.

Wide-open 3-pt field goal attempts (closest defender is 6+ feet away)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harden: 5% of his attempts were wide open and he shot 39% on those attempts
Paul: 9.6% of his attempts were wide open and he shot 49% on those attempts

Open 3-pt field attempts (defender 4-6 feet away)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harden: 19.9% of his attempts were open and he shot 37.4% on those attempts
Paul: 20.3% of his attempts were open and he shot 42.8% on those attempts

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that a larger percentage of their attempts will be "wide open" next season

Kawhi Leonard doesn't pass at all. KD had problems with defense, however he improved.

wait a minute, are you all out of your minds? haven't you remembered Morey literally traded away the WHOLE TEAM to get this 32 year old washed up has-been? this is nuts.

Paul usually made LAC a top 5 offense when he was there. Not many players that can do that on their own. In fact he may be one of a select few. When you think about pairing him with Harden, who led a historic offense himself....let's just say there's reason for optimism.
