Actually, it looks like Tucker is coming for all the non guaranteeds Morey acquired, leaving the Rockets the flexibility to give Nene or a backup 4/5 part of the MLE. Which is even better.

he's a hybrid cross between a faster, more athletic Chuck Hayes who can actually shoot, and a bigger, slower Pat Bev. What's not to like?

However we have to get the other team to participate in a SNT. Like if we wanted PPat and he was willing to sign for the MLE we would need Tor to agree to some compensation if using the NGs. Or Reed with Mia. They won't want to play ball that easily.

Plus it leaves us with one NG which is enough to add to Anderson and trade for Melo if he waives his trade kicker.

Yep. It's pretty sad to see how rampant this mindset has been on the forum over the past 24 hours.

Shout-out to all the non-idiots out there going out of their way to try to educate some of these "huge" basketball fans.

This isn't the issue. The issue is we should get our 3rd star, 4th, 5th guy before we go to the 7th, 8th or 9th guy off the pine.

There is a sequence to that.

I wanted him years ago, these types of defensive players are a pain to deal with. Big, strong, fast, can finish, can shoot, Hustles hard.

I had to go see for myself. It's true. Toronto fans are having a complete meltdown over losing Tucker. He endeared himself to that fan base in a very short amount of time. Some are sad...some are pissed, but the vast majority wanted him back. I read multiple comments that they wanted him back more than Ibaka.

Sidenote: Fans from other teams think this is a very good signing for us. Lots of people also think this is a good contract.

Hes a pg. not a wing. His salary had to be moved to make it happen or we would have lost gordon. Tucker is a better version of bev. He can guard basically every position from the floor and has just as much passion and heart.

but we wouldn't be using the MLE on a third star anyway; we had to use it on someone ...or a combo of players. Why not Tucker?

We'd have to move Anderson to get that third star anyway.

Except that he isn't very tall for a SF, and he does not shoot that well.

I can live with strong, fast, can finish, hustles hard.

If your most likely 3rd star is still under contract and not subject to any time constraints, it makes no sense to sit around and wait while useful FAs get snapped up by other teams.

I did not say we should not, he's just not a complete player or at least not in my books.

he turned down a better offer to come here. CP3 proving his worth already.

partial guarantee in his 4th year makes him very tradable in his 3rd yer as an 'expiring contract', which means we're only really committing to 2 years. so don't worry about his age. dude is our new pat bev but he can guard the post too. small ball 4's, 3's, and 2's will be shut down. pairing him with paul and ariza on the perimeter will be a problem for opponents.

the rotation and minutes should look like this:

    capela (24)
    ryno (24)
    ariza (34) - tucker (28)
    harden (34) - ego (28)
    cp3 (34)

i think we see slightly less minutes for cp3, harden, and ariza (which is good for rest). ego subs for harden and cp3. tucker subs for ariza and ryno since he's a solid post defender unless he gives up too much size.

we have 34 minutes left and C/PF. we can use the BAE, NG contracts, and vet min to fill out the roster.

Need to get into better shape as he ages, but overall a great signing if the 4th year is partially guaranteed. I think he will mostly be our backup PF. Perfect guy to guard Draymond, Thompson, Lebron in stretches.

I'm very aware of PJ Tucker. Maybe even more than you. I understand. And disagree that he is *phenomenal. And I'm still "meh"

This guy is like a longer, younger Tony Allen that can shoot.

Got him less than what the Raptors offered.

99% of raptor fans are upset to livid about losing him.

He rubbed off on his teammates.

He's not a diva at all. Can guard multiple positions. And again is a respectable 3 point shooter.

    Last year is partially guaranteed.

Takes pride in holding the opponents top guys.

As a back up 3/4 they don't get much better.
