I'm already pretty satisfied with the offseason and there are clearly going to have to be some more additions. Hopefully those will be positive additions.
I am really hoping to hear that the team talks to Aaron Afflao, great role player his entire career and he shoots above 40% from behind the arc.
A lot of unanswered questions around the league. We still haven't heard much in regards to where LaMarcus Aldridge will land as he apparently is unhappy in San Antonio.
Courtney Lee is another role player that could fit well here and apparently New York is shopping him. He has always shot the ball well and been a strong defender. He was also beloved by the city while he was here.
Tony Allen isn't much of a shooter but has always been aces on the defensive side of the ball and could replace some of that grit lost with Pat leaving.
George Hill hasn't landed this far and New York is seriously interested. Maybe a three way deal getting Hill + Favors to NY, Melo to Houston, and Anderson+ Lee to the Jazz.
Speaking of the Jazz they have Joe Johnson who would be a great way for them to cut salary to sign Hayward and considering the salary increase for Ingles and absorbing Rubio they probably need to dump some salary... How about our "kind of" TPE for Johnsons one year deal and his 40% 3 point shooting?

I can understand why some of you are frustrated because so many deals are being made and we have yet to a secure a difference maker since Free Agency has opened. The CP3 deal was major and will be huge for the team at least for the next year. Morey has proven himself time and time again. Have patience there are still so many possibilities out there. We are going to be an improved team next year. Hopefully with enough tools to take down the Warriors!

The pick and roll with Harden/Paul and Love/Capela would be absolutely lethal.

Who do you defend? Love on the pick and pop or Capela on the lob? Lest we forget Harden to basket with the eurostep or Paul with stop and pop jumper from mid range or floater in the lane?

Man this would be exciting. Imagine the double screen and roll. GARM would melt!

We would be helping Cavs with that deal. Taking away two players that they want to get rid of.

Kevin Love is not the answer as much as you guys wish he becomes the Minnesota Love. It was empty stat padding. Stop the wishful thinking that he couldn't be th difference maker in Cleveland and all of a sudden he is going to be the difference maker here in Houston.

I don't think we'd need him to be the Minnesota Love. He'd be 3rd option here. He just needs to do a few things well for us to max the hell out of the system d'antoni has built for us. I'd take Love over Melo in this system all day every day.

It reminds me of that lethal double pick that the Clippers ran with Jordan and Griffin. You can't defend the Jordan roll AND the Griffin mid-range jumper. That play destroyed this team in the playoffs.

The big difference here is that Love can spread the floor even more than Griffin.

Yeah you make some good points, and for the most part we're on the same page. But I do think Millsap is guaranteed not to come here; we don't have the money or the assets. I guess I just truly don't believe Melo will move here either.

Honestly, I would be so happy if we get like a ZBo; I don't want to get into a debate of how much of a difference he would make or how he wouldn't fit our system; I just like him as a player and he has a bunch of wins against the Warriors. They kinda fear him, I actually thought for sure they'd try to snag him up just to weaken Memphis, who probably give them more trouble than any other team in the West. But anyway, I feel a player like him could have been got for a bit of a discount (the higher exception) if we made him a priority in a FA meeting, made him feel special, rather than waste our time with Iguodala. I just personally don't see us adding anyone I'm a big fan of.

    Great Post.

Check my history if you have time (Or don't haha)

Afflalo was hours away from being a Rocket years ago. I reported it and , literally, one hiccup changed it all.

He is a seriously UNDERRATED guard. The problem is that he is NEVER is a good situation, including the most recent shambles in Sactown.

I know him from my time in Denver, just like I met NeNe/Mel/Kenyon/JR and most of the Nugs roster. Either way, Arron is an EXCEPTIONAL locker room guy. He's a work horse.

    I wish we had him.

Anyway, just wanted to share that tid bit.

Also, Lee can be had from NY, as can the entire team except KP.

Phil and Dolan destroyed that team for the foreseeable future.

His role would be different here. In Cleveland they make him stand outside and wait on a pass. He rarely gets post touches. I think we would use him better in MDA system. Not saying he would go back to that 20/15 guy, but I thnk he would be a good weapon on this tram with Harden and Paul.

Love would be a great addition. If you would have told me we'd flipped bev Lou Dekker Wiltjer Harrell Ryno for Love and CP3 last month I'd say HA! In your dreams!

    Paul
    Harden
    Ariza
    Love
    Capela

With Gordon coming off the bench

We'd be at least a 3rd seed again barring significant injuries.

I hope it comes true though I don't know if the Knicks will want ryno back in a 3-way deal

I think folks do not want to hear it but Morey should search the International market like in the past. He has found some gems.

R we still going to pick up shumpert if we have tucker. Some confusing stuff going on here. I really hope this all makes sense real soon.

Some of us were wondering who gave the info about the negotiations to Woj and why-- since Morey clearly knows how to hide a trade-in-progress when he wants to. Now I am suspecting that the answer is "The Rockets gave Woj the info to get PJ Tucker to hurry up and sign the offer-- unless he wants to lose his spot to Shumpert."

I feel like if the Rockets still pick up Shumpert after the Tucker signing, it won't be because they think he's in their long-term plans. It will be as a means to an end. Like maybe they'll get a pick in addition to Shumpert's contract that they can use, or maybe they want him just to have the salary to play with at the trade deadline. But with Gordon and Tucker off the bench and Harden, Paul and Ariza starting, I just don't see a lot of minutes for him on this roster.

If Houston DOESN'T go after Shumpert now, though, it begs the question "What is Morey going to do with all of these non-guaranteed contracts?" Because you have to think there are a lot of quality veterans sitting on bad teams right now who would love to dump their deals. Maybe Tyson Chandler? Courtney Lee?
