Daryl is turning $3.6MM in cash for a serviceable wing with a manageable contract. Not sure what more you guys could expect.

Really helps Cleveland out and shump isn't the worst rotation wing in the league.

Could be mutual beneficial if we are able to land Tobias with shump.

Hell it could prove to be our system regenerates shumps value

First line of the Chron story. :D

"In the hopes of roster help to elevate them to contender status, the Rockets moved to add a player that has played the part."

In the hopes of roster help to elevate them to contender status, the Rockets moved to add a player that has played the part.

The Rockets on Saturday were in talks with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a trade for guard/forward Iman Shumpert, a person with knowledge of the talks said.

In search of help on the wings and armed with their collection of non-guaranteed contracts, the Rockets could reunite Shumpert with Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni.

Shumpert played for D'Antoni in New York, having the top-scoring season of his seven-year career. He averaged 7.5 points on 41.1 percent shooting, 36 percent 3-point shooting with the Cavaliers last season.

Though still considered among the Cavaliers' top defensive players, he played a diminished role in the post-season each of the past two seasons since signing a four-year, $40 million contract and helping the Cavs win the 2016 championship.

The Cavaliers are looking for cost-savings and would do a deal for players with non-guaranteed contracts without taking back any of the Rockets other players or draft picks, according to the individual familiar with the trade talks.

"Though still considered among the Cavaliers' top defensive players..."

Let me tell you something: the Cavs sucked on defense.

Can you be anymore melodramatic? Not every damn acquisition is going to be a superstar.

Some of you need to think about what kind of team it will take to beat Golden State and view things through that lens. Hint: It won't be trying to outscore them like the Cavs.

I do think this is Morey's intention.

At some point (7/7?) you have to guarantee the salary for those contracts, and there are not many players in this league with salary almost perfectly fit into the 10 million range, with not too long a contract and with home team willing to deal. Plus knowing multiple teams wanting Shumpert is also good news.

Morey was making the rounds on all these talk shows just to end up with Shump after acquiring CP3? This just can't be. There must be more up his sleeve. There has to be.

Because Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving are two of the worst defenders in the NBA. Love due to athleticism issues(like Anderson) and Kyrie because he, like Harden, only cares about the offensive end of the floor.

Thompson, LeBron and Shumpert are all solid defenders.

I'm hoping some team with cap space in the East throws a front loaded poison pill contract at Simmons in the worst way.

You have to be able to slow them down. Period. The goal should be to hold them to 100 instead of 120. Period. Trying to run and gun with the Warriors is a recipe for disaster.
