BimaThug can clarify his math there, but... It would appear that although the Rockets have the $8.4M NT-MLE, the $3.2M BAE and the non-guaranteed deals capable of returning $11.8M in salaries, using any of them would trigger the "hard cap" at $125M. The numbers look like it would put some pretty severe constraints on the team's possible moves for the whole season if the team actually use all 3 of these resources. Using a portion of the MLE on Nene and Zhou Qi may actually be the best use of this resource.
Yea because bench bigs & veteran role players like Nene are easily replaceable. Look how well we did when he got hurt against SAS smh Yea, you new Morey era Rocket fans really dont appreciate the value of solid players who provide a good lockeroom presence. In your world, we should just find a guy with simliar stats as Nene, around the same height & size, and he'll magically produce at the same rate. Its not that easy
Well, Harden could volunteer to give up some money in order to sign Nene. That's if Harden really wanted Nene on the team.
@DaDakota jinxed free agency when he said he loved what Morey was doing.. Everything DD loves (basketball related) goes up in smoke.. since then Paul George to thunder Anderson for Anthony fell through now Nene drama. RIP Deep sleeves Morey...
new Morey era rocket fans? you joined here 14yrs after me and i'm the new Morey era rocket fan... and the point is that he's always hurt, every season. that's why we should focus on more reliable players today, the first day of FA
Now watch the Spurs trade LMA for Millsap, Green for a 1st, sign Iguodala and trade multiple 1st for Cousins.
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19783234/rockets-pull-back-4-year-deal-nene-age-rule Free agent center Nene "is back at square one" in free agency after the Houston Rockets had to pull back an accepted four-year, $15 million deal due to an age rule, a source told The Undefeated. Nene and the Rockets agreed to terms on a four-year, $15 million deal with the Rockets on Friday. Houston, however, was not permitted to offer a four-year contract because of the Over 38 rule. The fourth season of the initially proposed contract would have been during Nene's 38th birthday. The Rockets have countered with a three-year, $10 million offer to Nene that he has not accepted, a source said. Nene is now back in the free agent pool and open to talking to other NBA teams, a source said. Houston, however, is optimistic they will work out a contract with the 34-year-old before he is eligible to re-sign. One Rockets source said it's imperative that Nene is re-signed to play alongside All-Stars James Harden and newcomer Chris Paul.
