    Because of the over 38 rule he can't sign the 4 year because it takes his first year over the non bird rights Max?

    I believe this is what I read.

    So in essence it turned into a 3yr/10something contract.

    I'm curious how this is resolved.

    The over 38 rule in the new CBA makes the old contract (4/16) "illegal" from what I understand?

    I ultimately think he'll still sign the same deal but without the fourth year. But yeah it could get a little dicey if a team throws a 2 year, full MLE offer at him.
