Eric Gordon is definitely a better player than Vic but I'm not sure he's better for a rebuilding team. Gordon and Anderson aren't gonna be very attractive to rebuilding teams. To be honest with you, I'm not sure that we could've beaten that offer. we can't even trade a pick till 2020 we could've easily beaten it with capela but he's off the table. his production on a rookie contract is huge for us. we need the pick and roll threat for dantonis offense to really work.
we're basically screwed now if we don't get a combo of Melo/Ibaka, Iggy/Ibaka, Melo/Milsap since we have gone all in on this plan.
Pretty much. We need Melo/Ibaka to compete with Warriors. Otherwise we are where we were last season.
Pretty sure he isn't off the table given the right return, think codman hinted at this. We just went all-in for a 32yr old CP3 and are in win-now mode, developing Capela isn't a high priority anymore and we can sign veteran bigs for cheap. Plus I think many people are forgetting how bad Capela looked defensively vs scoring bigs, we had huge issues all season and especially in the playoffs.
Everybody is going all in right now, man. You don't think what the Thunder did was extra risky? They gave up the piece they traded Ibaka for as well as a young phenom for a one year rental. This is what Golden State has done to the league. Everyone is fighting out of a corner right now trying to catch up.
We are not screwed, we are improved but basically everything is the same......Harden could have been a better leader, we did not know. We try to give him a couple of competitive years but let's be honest, GSW was GSW before the Paul trade, and they stay GSW.
we're going to lose capela next summer anyways. while doing the full round of assorted bspn talkshows to gloat about cp3, presti was busy doin work
What a terrible post. I hate how absolutely fickle this board is. Everyone loved the Chris Paul trade until Indiana gave George away but that has nothing to do with the Rockets. Morey has been working to put this team in a position to fill out the roster and Paul George was always an extreme long shot. Our team is better than it was last year and in a position to add more. Sure it looks like Indiana got trash for George but it was trash we didn't have. It is impossible to say that the Rockets could have matched it and didn't when we have no idea what's going on behind the scenes.
if it's so impossible to know then why do you have your nose so far up morey's ass? what we do know is that harden put this thing together and then morey negotiated the trade, in which he literally gave away the entire farm for a 1yr rental too. except that cp3 was becoming a FA in 3 days anyways. then you say we don't have the pieces okc had to make the PG trade.....yeah that's b/c homey just unnecessarily gave up the entire farm 3days ago!
Awesome. Great to know that we have another insider here who can tell us exactly the players that Indiana is looking for in a trade. We didn't have Oladipo or Sabonis. You don't think Morey talked to Indiana about Paul George before we traded for Chris Paul? Morey had been trying to move the Ryan Anderson contract for days. The problem in your scenario is that if we somehow get Indiana to agree to a trade for George we still have to find cap space for Chris Paul. But yeah my head is up Morey's ass. I guess so was most of Houston's after he landed CP3 and then created a TPE that nobody else thought of. This revisionist history based on information that we don't have access to is just pointless. We upgraded the team and are barely 8 hours into free agency to potentially do more.
This trade shows that nobody was offering anything for PG. Indiana took the best offer, which makes me wish I could see what other teams offered, including the Rockets.
your nose is up morey's ass b/c you automatically assume he's the magical wizard no matter what. despite putting us in this asset-poor situation himself by 1) signing anderson to that ridiculous fuking deal and 2) giving away the farm for cp3 for no logical reason when he could have just signed him this morning. regarding capspace for cp3, we could have traded all those players and gotten back picks instead of having to attach one for LAC. great now we have a TPE to sign a very mediocre player in this market, instead of the 2 stars we need. and at the same time one of our main rivals (okc) just got A LOT better. "We didn't have Oladipo" -- yeah b/c Zee Wizard signed ryan fuking anderson instead lol
lol wut? oladipo wasn't a free agent the year we signed ryno. And Chris Paul wanted to come here - Paul George didn't. If you think Indy was trading PG13 for Harrell, Dekker, and the pu-pu platter, you're higher than you sound.
no, i'm saying we blew our wad on ryno trash last summer, that's why we have no assets like oladipo to offer up now. and exactly, chris paul wanted to come here -- that's why it's so mindboggling for us to have given up all those assets for him. and let's not forget he wanted to come here b/c of harden, not b/c morey is the bestest GM of all time.
Morey is scaring the rest of the league as well. The acquisition of Chris Paul made all the other GM's look in the mirror and cry. You think the 29 other fanbases weren't saying to themselves and their GM's "How the F did Morey do it again!!! What is wrong with our GM??? Fire him, he sucks!". Some people just don't appreciate what they have and are too impatient to wait for the final product come playoff time. Y'all need to remember that the start of the season is months away and Morey works deals all the way to the trade deadline in February. Relax. Drink your morning coffee and enjoy the news of the day. If anything, our matchups with OKC should be more fun to watch. Same with Minnesota and Golden State. Competition is what we crave and the west just got more competitive.
