I'm guessing OKC didn't secure a verbal agreement that he'd resign with them, while we did with Paul. Looks like a pretty good trade for OKC in any case.
If you're Boston, do you trade Brown knowing next summer PG is leaving? I dont. Trade away a future cornerstone for a one year rental? Boston wanted assurances PG would extend. I'm guessing they didn't get it, because you're right, they could have easily beaten OKCs offer if they wanted to.
Two of those picks were ass though. Like 27 and 29. That doesn't help Indy rebuild, and Celtics said Brown is untouchable.
So what? Paul was only willing to come here and and George had no say. I'll never understand why we had to include the first round pick to make that deal work.
That's a crap deal on both ends... indy really doesnt get jack... cant believe that was the best offer... and OKC gets a guy that doesn't want to be there, will prob get ticked w Westbrick and be gone to LA asap.... so they get moderately better for one n done... not a good deal for anybody....
Indiana accepted such a low-ball offer that it was almost worth topping it, even if it's a guaranteed rental, because it gives us a shot at a championship this year.
That's fair, but depending on where Paul George's head was at, I can absolutely understand not wanting to give up assets for him. Hell why not just wait and trade for him mid-season when the Thunder are looking to dump him?
Horrible for the west. The east gets weaker. west gets another contender. I dunno what Boston is doing if okc can get George for two low prospects.
Maybe it was to get the Clips to participate and help us get Cp3 in a way that benefitted us and him when they didn't have to.
