Mannix: I'm not sure I understand it. Almost feels like they've got 2 QBs. It's a good problem. If you look at what they were last year: Harden was primary scorer & playmaker. That took a toll on him. They lost game six on their home floor without Kawhi. Harden had too much responsibility with the ball. Now you add Chris Paul. There will be an adjustment period. When you have these two guys & Mike D'Antoni, by mid-season, they'll look like one of the best backcourts in basketball. Why did Chris Paul pick Houston & why did he leave LA? A lot of stuff out there is true. Friction with Doc all year. Friction with Griffin was very real. I had people within the organization & former teammates say they would've been shocked if Paul came back if Griffin was there. There was some truth to what's out there. That being said, this was more about a desire to play about Harden than anything else. They've been all-star/USA teammates. They didn't just hatch this last month. ... Carmelo was never going to LA for an Austin Rivers headline & spare parts. It wasn't close. That part I don't buy. Chris was looking for something different. For Houston, a big deal but big risk. They'll be paying a 38-year old PG $40M+. Can't imagine he's worth that money at that point of his career. First domino of free agency? Hayward is the first guy to go. A lot of dominos fall after that. George could be dealt after that. Other teams will act accordingly. So what's 2-3-4? Teams that lose out on Hayward will ramp up efforts on Griffin. Paul leaving makes it more likely he stays, especially if they offer a full 5-year max. He'd be the man with that team. It'd take some rebuilding but having his own team in LA, I think that matters to Griffin.
Mannix is a Boston guy i think, maybe he's scared by the Rockets now and he's making up stuff...like, Paul will only play his last year of contract, the first 4 years don't count...lol
Clutchfans is hilarious because literally every moronic Harden criticism, in this case the baseless "stars don't want to play with Harden!" narrative, comes back and inevitably proves to be moronic.
99% of posters here are emotional wrecks lol. theres no pleasing clutchfans when it comes to harden. Imagine clutchfans is hardens mom and she buys him 2 sweaters on xmas. A green and blue one. To show clutchfans how much harden appreciates the gifts he immediately put on the green sweater. Clutchfans reaction "whats the problem? You dont like or appreciate the blue sweater?"
That sounds about right. Now my question is, what other assets are the rockets looking to move and for who?
Lol the only assets left are Harden, Capela and Gordon and Ariza..... Ryan Anderson is kind of a semi asset (huge contract but not that attractive other than rebuilding teams that can buy him out) Harden isn't available. Ariza very likely staying - ok 3 and D guy Hilario is a free agent. Capela, Gordon, Anderson, Ariza
I really hope Paul does a solid and signs the 4 year extension instead of going to free agency for the full 5 year max. Take a little less Paul, let's make this thing work.
There lies the problem. Losing so many pieces landed you another star, but this makes it complicated to add a third. With Harden and Paul together though, good role players may want to come here for less money.
I think most stars are starting to realize just like KD right now that if you want to compete in the new super team era all 3-4 stars can't take a max and gonna start compromising. Just like how KD told the warriors to round out the bench first and then he'll sign a contract
I think if it's the difference between the Rocks getting some help that might put us over the top, or giving him the extra bread, Chris just might take the 4 year deal. He has to be making a bloody fortune from those commercials and other outside income. We'll see! It would be an amazingly selfless act.
At this time, probably Anderson and Gordon. While Gordon is great as a 6th Man, with 3 stars one can make an argument that we really don't need a 6th Man.
Hey @pageC4 I'm just curious and want to pick your mind since you seem level headed. Not to be a prick, if it comes off that way, but how devastating was the 2015 game 6 collapse against us? Imo, I felt that was the end of the clippers relevance at achieving a title, and in hindsight it appears to be that way. ***Bumping this because I'm really curious and I see your active now and may have missed it the first time I asked.
