Not sure this was posted already but : https://sports.yahoo.com/report-uncertainty-lamarcus-aldridge-played-033012406.html?src=rss Apparently Lamarcus Aldridge's uncertainty in SA helped push CP3 to the Rockets, but more importantly, we may have discovered why Bobby Brown is still on this damn team : One reason is the Rockets had three great recruiters who were in Paul’s ear to come to Houston: Harden, starting small forward Trevor Ariza and reserve point guard Bobby Brown. There are levels to this stuff, as Harden and Paul are members of the NBA elite world and have been friends for a while. Who knows what they have been talking about behind the scenes? Ariza and Brown are also former New Orleans Hornets teammates of Paul’s, and they remain close friends. Paul was seriously interested in playing for the Spurs, according to a source. But with Aldridge’s status with the Spurs up in the air, it made the situation less attractive. It probably would have been awkward for Paul to take the starting role over longtime Spurs point guard, respected foe and friend Tony Parker.
Damn Harden used to have some major bunnies. Almost forgot how good of a vertical athlete he was when he first got here.
This situation IMO is similar to the Melo2NY trade. Almost traded 1/2 of the roster for one player for whom we dont know how will combine with MDA, Harden...
Probably meant it aint a move made for the near future or the future at all. I think we should plan ahead if that CP plan does turn sour. CP is a respected player. Dun want this become a Drama in the worst case if it comes to that.
I do not agree. The only rotation players we gave up were Lou and Beverley. Dekker and Harrell have potential but are not allstar material. And acquiring Paul via trade is much better than signing him outright because it allows us to keep all our exceptions to further improve the team.
Except the whole we didn't gut our team to bring in the best player. We upgraded one starter to pair with the arguable MVP of the league. The two situations are nothing alike.
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...h-doc-rivers-disappointed-chris-paul-decision Lob City is over. Chris Paul is a Houston Rocket, and LA Clippers president and head coach Doc Rivers is ready to move on. "That part is over. And that bugs me," Rivers said in an interview with ESPN. "But we're not done trying to reach our goal. Sometimes you gotta do it a different way. Because the way we tried to do it didn't work." "We were close, and then we had self-inflicted wounds," he said. "You would love to get those back but you don't get that back. But it's not like it was awful. And that's the point. We were a game away from the Western finals [the 2015 playoff series against Houston] and we were three minutes of basketball away against Oklahoma [a 2014 playoff series in which Paul had several costly turnovers in the final minutes of Game 5]. "We were knocking on the door of being very successful, and we just didn't get it done." "When we look back, the last four years, other than the teams that won the title, we've been as successful," he said. "But this franchise, because of its own history, we don't get the benefit of the doubt. We have not gotten to the promised land. And that's the disappointing part with this group. But now we're gonna write our own new chapter and we're gonna try to do it again." Rivers said the team's main focus is on trying to retain Griffin in free agency now. If Griffin were to leave, however, he's open to being part of a rebuild. "I've done it three times. Rebuilding is [tough]," he said. "But it's better when you're in the trenches. [In L.A.] I'm involved every day. I've thought if I'm gonna ever do that again, I'm gonna have my fingerprint on it." As for Paul's departure, Rivers said he resented the idea that personal issues with his son, Austin Rivers, or Griffin and Jordan played a key role in it. "Let's not make this story about Blake and DJ and Austin. This story is about Chris leaving. He is the one that decided to leave," Rivers said. "That doesn't make him a villain. He had the right to do that. And I have no problem with that. That's what free agency is. "Was I disappointed with his decision? Yeah. I though he had a better chance to win with us. He didn't agree with that. And that's fine too. ... But ain't nobody at fault. The fault is we didn't do well enough to keep him. We played a role in that. In not winning. But Chris was part a that too. He was on that team that didn't win. "So, we all played a part in not winning. That's just life. It wasn't my fault or Jamal [Crawford's] fault or whoever. It was all of us. Chris was on that team that didn't win too. He didn't do something right. I didn't do something right. Blake and DJ. I'm sure we all did something that wasn't perfect. But that's life and I have no problem with that."
you can tell the relationship is pretty strained lol. doc made it a point to keep passively-aggressively mention it was CP3's fault lol
Glad tidings Clutchfans, The banana boat party will commence in Houston next year..... Wade, paul, melo, Lebron, and paul will all be in Rockets uniform. These dinosaurs figured out that it will be the only way of beating the GS warriors in the coming years. They also figured out they need a young ALPHA that is among the top 1-3 players in the world, in his prime, with a organization as zealous and a GM as creative as Daryl Morey, to be successful and win some rings. I never thought this day would come. I am beyond elated. This is a dream come true, and almost too good to be true. Some pinch me. what are were the chances of this happenings. GOD IS GOOD! LOL>
