You will never find a better teammate than Patrick Beverley. He is the exact definition of a "team player".

it's definitely going to be a give and take between paul and last year's rockets system. from our side, we are going to have to abandon the "no 2pt shots" restriction now, too. my feeling is that adjustments from paul and harden will probably less of a problem for us than getting production out of our forwards, who have serious limitations offensively. of course if melo or paul george comes here, then the rest of the league has a lot more problems than us!

At this point we don't know. I can tell you that Jerry West was definitely behind this Paul for Beverly and package trade. Prior to West, Doc's strategy was to continue bringing in small vet minimum contracts to surround around Paul, Jordan, and Griffin. His hope was to somehow hit a home-run on some minimum contracts, but when your core isn't playing well together a band aid isn't going to fix it.
At this point, Clippers fans are just as much in the dark. Me personally, I hope it's a full rebuild. At this point there are about four very good teams and everyone else. I would rather my team deal away everyone and rebuild, wait out the GSW dynasty, and contend in the future. Boston provided a good template of what I would like my team to do, but that's just me. We may see soon, but if Blake leaves, I just hope we get a decent severance package like we did from you guys. You never want to lose your best player, but if you do a package like what your team sent allows us to get things in return to start the rebuild.

I figured he would be a fan favorite among you guys, he reminds me of Matt Barnes only Beverly is certainly a better defender than Barnes was. Also, he does seem to take an emotional investment in his team. I love his tweets.

Please don't compare Bev to Barnes. Barnes is a total shithead on and especially off the court. The only problem Bev ever had off the court was letting people drive his car and not pay the tolls.

After he began having injury issues Chris Paul rebuilt his game to revolve around skill, strength, and craftiness rather than athleticism.

Dwight never developed the skill or mental aspects of the game post-injury that CP did and when his athleticism waned so did his dominance.

You don't lose craftiness or skill, we even saw an example of this most recent playoffs when 39 year old Manu lit us up for a couple of buckets.

This also occurred to me as well YOLO. Since the Clippers added West to the front office, the direction of the organization is no doubt going to change. But so far, we don't know if West is planning a full rebuild or a re-tool around Blake. In Paul's case, he wanted out and we were fortunate that your team was eager to clear cap space and send some assets and a pick in exchange just to secure the deal. However, if West has a future envisioned with Blake at the center, then it is in the Clippers best interest to keep Beverly and Williams, as these guys can help now. However, if Blake follows suit and does what Chris does, the Clippers may not have a choice but to try and repeat a similar deal with another team for Blake. If and when that happens then that indicates that a full rebuild is the only, and best option. Then in that scenario shipping out Williams and Beverly would be a better idea. For the moment the team needs to see what plans Blake has.

The comparison was not to say Bev is a knucklehead, the comparison was to say that Beverly is a gritty, defensive guy, who commits to his team. I love Beverly, and it was not meant to insult him. Besides, Barnes was a fan favorite in L.A., sure he did a lot of stupid off court stuff, but he's of a mentality that once he's on your team he will defend his team mates and be all in. The comparison was meant to be a compliment :)

You'll love Beverley. The guy is all heart and hustle on the court. He is 100% team. While he will talk bad of Houston it will always be his home and we would always welcome him back here. If I still lived in LA I would go to games just to see him play.

As for the other items you posted about Paul and pace i think you're right but I think a generational talent like Paul will make it work. Despite the pace the Rockets played at it wasn't like Harden was racing the ball up the court every single time often times I felt he was deliberate and slow bringing the ball up. Often times it was Beverley or later Gordon/Lou that would bring the ball up faster. We definitely played at a faster pace when Harden was on the bench. A big part of that IMO was that the team really had no real half court offense without Harden in the game. The bench didnt really have play makers, they had shot creators in Gordon, Beverley and later Lou but I wouldnt consider these guys to be playmakers. This is where Paul can come in and be that playmaker (an amazing one at that) when Harden sits. The rockets want to get out in transition to exploit and defensive mismatches but their entire offensive premise is to get the best shot possible (Generally something in the paint - high efficiency or a 3 pointer - high value) I never felt that their offense was more about pushing the ball super fast up and down the court. The most consistent way for the bench group to get a good shot was to push in transition. I am pretty sure MDA is willing to sacrifice pace to get a better shot.

Beverly is certainly a type of player that we haven't had in quite some time. Every team should have a defensive impact player like this, guys like Tony Allan, Draymond Green, Serge Ibaka, and others like this often do things that go unnoticed. He will be fun to watch to be certain.

yeah once Blake makes his decision the direction LA should take will be alot easier. personally i think its time to just start over. Blake isn't that caliber of a player you build around and start with.

Not sure I understand this "it feels like a West move" comments I've heard. It wasn't a West move, or a Clippers move. It was a CP3 move.

Pass it being a CP3 move, did West participate/help on the maneuver to get back what they did? maybe... they got more than they could have... like the first round pick... no reason for the rockets to really include that, but the clippers got it, maybe just because West asked, lol.

    First of, welcome!

Second, has anybody explained the concept of nepotism to Doc?

Finally, I have no idea how BG, CP3, and DJ really never panned out for you guys in the playoffs. Injuries to either CP3 or BG, but for the most part is has to be coaching.
