I doubt Atlanta would do Bazemore for Anderson straight up, so I don't understand how they're getting rewarded for participating in a SnT?
So these contracts most of them are non guaranteed before the 1st, but after that date they are still expiring contracts which is valuable right?
Not financially, no. He actually makes slightly less than Anderson and is 2 years younger. Anderson's value will never be higher, Bazermore's will probably never be lower. Granted Anderson outplayed Bazermore last season, but if the Hawks are dumping contracts, they wouldn't care about getting a slightly better forward that much. We must be including a very protected pick. Maybe rights to Lull and Gentile. Maybe 2nd rounders. But no way they just make that deal. They would be better off trying to help Bazermore have a bounce back season.
Well yea, you have to include commpensation, but a couple of seconds is much better than a 2020 first.
I think Bazemore would actually have the chance to do ok here, he would take less shots and get way more better shots than those he had in Atlanta offense last season, which was also ruined by having Dwight on the court instead of Horford...and he actually plays defense, runs the floor well...
Gotta think all of the ngtds are going towards Melo. Do we have enough now to add to Gordon for Melo straight up? Not that I want to do that but geez I cannot imagine the Knicks agreeing to Ryno.
So we can't trade him for another 2 months, unless he's traded by himself? Hmm. Guess we just really wanted to spend the full $3.5 mil...
The last year of Bazemore's contract is a player option. The $4 million or so less he makes doesn't counteract the option and his quality as a player, which is the most important factor. And he's already 28; he's in his prime, not some young upstart.
Everything I said is still true. You didn't really address most of it. Baze is bottomed out value, Ryan is maxed value. Baze could have a better season, Ryan can not. Baze is cheaper. Ryan is a better player. As for the player option, Ryan has that 3rd season guaranteed. So even assuming Bazemore opts in - a highly likely scenario - Baze still makes about $6m less. Frankly Bazemore could be servicable in 3 years. His athleticism will wane, he will have 10 years of experience and he will probably shoot better. Ryan is going to be this but slower, he's not going to improve at anything at this point. Don't let your assessment of Bazemore get in the way of what we're discussing. A Bazemore-Anderson swap is not enough to entice the Hawks to sign n trade Millsap to us for no other assets. Hawks are done, finished, the difference between those 2 assets is insignificant.
