It's better than a club sandwich addiction and that's why Morey says nothing. That was too mean.. I take it back. Morey is thinner than me, smarter, and better looking. Two Things: 1) Chris Paul is amazing on defense. He seems to get all those steals without gambling. He's like Bev in that regard. 2) This is the second big name player from LA to choose Houston over LA. LA must not be nearly as awesome as people in LA tout it to be for players. Los Angeles must hate us right now.
Welcome. I want to ask if you think there's truth that the relationship between CP3 and Griffin isn't very good. Or the issues were between DJ and CP3 only ?
No one is asking the important question here. Is CP3 and elaborate handshake guy or just a dap type of guy?
i like it, no other word to put it, will miss bev and lou, best wishes for dekker and harrel, both are solid rotational player
Apparently "Everything" doesn't include DeAndre Liggins, Darrun Hilliard, Kyle Wiltjer and Cash Considerations in that Welcome pic
Here's the thing. As a point guard, Paul has to direct people for plays, or push them to do things the way he wants. That sort of thing can come across as "pushy" or "bossy." Now that's typical with most point guards because they are floor generals, but it has to come with a limit. You can't be a complete dictator, and the rumblings in the locker room between Paul, Griffin, DJ, and other former players (most notably Big Baby Davis) sort of support the notion that Paul can rub some players the wrong way. Now, this may not play out the same way with Houston, as Harden and the crew there have different personalities, so Paul may mesh well there in Houston. However, there's an old quote that I like: “One voice may speak you false, but in many there is always truth to be found.” with many former team mates of Paul having some sort of discord with him, expect that perhaps his personality may cause some friction in Houston, but the over all thing to remember is that as long as the team has success on the court, a little tension isn't bad.
Welcome to the board, appreciate your input. Some personal thoughts on what I feel you're getting from the former Rockets. Bev has so much heart and grit, he gives you 100% all the time; it's hard not to love what he brings. As long as Clip fans don't expect the same type play making they're used to with CP3, you shouldn't be disappointed. D, rebounding, good spot up 3 and a team first guy. Dek at this point is an energy guy. He will show flashes with his athleticism and determination, but still has a lot of room for improvement. That said, the jump he made from year one to year two was fairly significant. SD's jumper is absolutely broken. He will hit some 3's, but it's clearly a weakness. Dek will put the work in to get better, so that won't be a problem. The potential is there for him being a solid NBA contributor.
I would love to hear the downside to Paul. I'm not trying to crap on the guy at all, but I'd like to know what to temper my expectations on. Dude seems unreal at times like Harden. Edit: Also, CFans... let's rep this guy hard. He hasn't replied to anything yet and there's nothing wrong with having a 50 to 1 like to post ratio.
Howard should have embraced his monster side. No one likes a big softy. They say they do, but no one actually likes that. They see a monster and they want Mike Tyson in the first round monster. Dwight never understood that. Shaq did.
Yes, but does Clipper Nation have everything? Perhaps a trade of Bev for Ryan Anderson would do the trick. Then they'd have 'everything'.
Hi, I was watching probably last 1000 games of Chris Paul and I believe he is one of the greatest and most underrated player in the NBA history (I'm going to show some stats to prove it). Many people deny his greatness because he never passed the second. But there is deeper story behind. He was amazing in playoffs. He has the 4th best PER (from career) in the NBA history in playoffs, only after MJ, Lebron and Shaq. But non of those players were even close to 50-40-90 club during the entire playoff games and Chris would be the only player doing it twice if not the last game with utah. This shocking stats looks even more amazing if we realize the point guard has much more responsibilities on the basketball court then rest of the players, (he cannot just came to zona mindset, concentrate on grab the ball and shut the ball) that's why non other Hall of Fame point guards are even in the first 10. (Magic Johnson 18th, John Stockton 52th) So why Chris Paul has not this success with Clippers? There are multiple reasons in my opinion. Championship ring is a collective effort of multiple different people. You need to have : * great GM * great coach * great system * great bench * great chemistry * great luck * no injuries * clutch players around you Chris Paul didn't have even 2 of those things through his career. Michael Jordan during the years 83,84,85,86,87,88,89 and 90 had exactly 0 rings because his teams wasn't good enough, but then, when the have Scottie Pippen, Phil Jackson and Dennis Rodman this team was so good, that even without Michael (when he came to baseball) they passed the second round. Look at Clippers team in the era of Chris Paul : JJ Reddick - PER (per season) 16.00 - when he came to playoffs PER less then 0 this year (it's possible) overall PER 10.00 from career. The worst first team player from all playoff teams. Deandre Jordan - misses dunks in key moments of playoffs and had many times around 10% from free throws (when they need him) Jamal - around 20% 3 point shooting percentage, and around 37 % overall field goal. Blake Griffin - many times injuries and very bad defender. Chris never played with two-way players with amazing statistics. Clippers were great only on papers. Without Chris they played like one of the worst teams in the NBA. How great Chris is ? He has the biggest (in the NBA history) win shares per 48 minuts together with Michael Jordan (they switch all the time) He also is : * probably the best perimeter defender ever (according Doc Rivers and many other people), and great one on one defender. * best in assist to turnover player ever - comparing to Hall Of Fames * best in assist to bad pass player ever - light years beyond others * the best midrange shooter by almost entire his career * the most intelligent player in the league * one of the best leader * one of the toughest player ever * one of the best in clutch * the King of REAL PLUS MINUS (together with Lebron) * the only player in the NBA history without weaknesses !!! Even Micheal Jordan had one weakness - 3 point shooting, rest of the players had numerously. Except John Stockton. But Chris is above John Stockton in almost every Advanced Statistic, and is the better scorer. Magic for example had at least 3 weaknesses : 3point shooting, midrange shooting and massive numbers of turnovers. Today players prefer to be flashy than be great : * As point guards they don't do guarding (they just waiting for a rebounds to shine in statistics) * They are extremely inefficient to have a lot of point per game * They commit enormous numbers of turnovers to shine in assists per game So many ways they hurt their teams, but Chris is almost perfect in everything, he covers all his turnovers with the same numbers of steals, so when he passes it's pure delivering without this negative effects. He's the one of the most effective offensive player ever and probably the best defensive player ever on his position : Similar stats for James Harden : Chris Paul is extremely upgraded version of Steve Nash, one of the best player ever. If you compare his numbers with Lebron James you will see that Chris is better in almost every possible aspect of the game which not involve pure athleticism. It's not because Lebron is not one of the greatest (because he is) but Chris is so much underrated that it blows my mind. Houston has so much luck to have him. Regards from Poland
Stunned at this trade and all of the machinations regarding it. What a fun day yesterday was. Nice to have an ACE in the bag before FA starts. LOVED how the Rockets c0ck blocked the Spurs on CP3. I have so many butt-hurt Spurs fans in my twitter mentions. The Rockets have a backcourt troika of Chris Paul, James Harden and Eric Gordon. Wow.
You're right. Come to think of it, even Kobe in his last year (almost 40), I would still contend he'd be a very good piece to have on a championship squad.
Wonderful response. Yeah, none of us are expecting the players we got in return to have the same impact that CP3 can give, but when your star players wants out you have to get something in return. The worst scenario is what happened to OKC. Durant left them with nothing, so even though losing CP3 is not ideal, what we got in return is a start to rebuild. Thanks for your input on Bev and Dek.
