Depth of the pen is helping keep any of them from getting too overworked. I'm sure they are charting this stuff to the extreme, but none are really being "overworked"

    The young ones.....
Devo on pace for 95 innings, threw 84 last year
Feliz on pace for 75 innings, threw 65 last year

    The vets...
Harris on pace for 68 innings, threw 64 last year
Luke on pace for 64 innings, threw 57 last year
Giles on pace for 62 innings, threw 66 last year

I don't think any of the top 5 are really being overworked, but the lack of starter innings is giving us situations like yesterday where we get Hoyt when we want one of those 5

Devo's DNP tonight was awesome  THREE consecutive days off

Tomorrow, Harris should be actively inactive, along with Gregerson.

Despite injuries, the pitching overall is still stout. Offense has a favorable chance most nights regardless of stadium.

Hey on pace guy, are you going to bet or just keep posting stupid on pace stats?

Again, how many bullpens have 6 guys that, if they pitch to their potential, can be effective /reliable?

Besides Devo, who looks just fine when he gets a day or two off, who do you think is really overworked right now?

Lastly, presuming they wrap up this division before the last week (or three) of the season... there should be ample resting time for any overworked arms prior to the playoffs (perhaps too much resting time).

Springer has blossomed into the player we all hoped he'd become.

    Just incredible!!!

Batting between Springer and Altuve has to have some sort of effect on this.

I'd add that Astros pick their spots to play him against LHPs (i.e. they avoid the guys with great stuff that goes away from him).

Just wanted to post about this tweet Richard Justice recently sent out. I think this really goes to show how well AJ has managed the bullpen this year. At this rate, our top bullpen arms (Devo, Harris, Gregerson and Giles) should be well rested for the postseason.

The over usage issue didn't begin until 3-4 weeks ago. You cant use whole season projections to make this case.

Devenski is 2nd in innings overall and 5th in the last 30 days. Feliz is at 25th overall and 17th in the last 30 days. Hoyt is out of top 60 overall, but in last 30 days is 29th. Devenski and Feliz have shown a slight increase in velocity like most pitchers after the first month once their arm warms up. A little concerned with them if they don't get a breather soon. Hoyt has been dropping in velocity by a little over half a tick as the year goes on suggesting that he may be worn out. I expect he'll go to minors for a bit very soon for a rest period.

I'd be shocked, if the Astros don't get into an Arms race at the trade deadline. I believe we'll get a pitcher who is in-between Giles and Devenski in innings.

I was looking for this kind of data. Where did you find it?

    Edit: Fangraphs :)

Fangraphs for the innings. I like their last 30 days, last calendar year, last 2 calendar years, and last 3 calendar year functions. For velocity information and pitch information in general, I prefer Brooksbaseball as they spit out data into tables and various charts that are just easier to use than the way Fangraphs is setup.

It just doesn't seem like Altuve has hit as well as he has this month.

That's pretty much how you know you are witnessing greatness. When a guy is slashing over .900 and it just feels pedestrian.
