Weird how their big strike out games keep flying under the radar. Another 17 tonight. On pace to shatter their own MLB record by over 100.
Just told my boy earlier he is quickly becoming one of my favorite astros. Love his intensity...never has a bad at bat.
Springer's 9th leadoff-HR tonight set the franchise single-season record. Anyone think George might be All-Star worthy?
Crazy game... frustrating to keep putting out those minor league pitches and watch our bull pen get all used up. Hopefully starters come back soon and/or we make a trade... the longer this goes on the more concerning it becomes.... Morton/McCullers/Keuchel/Musgrove and if you add in McHugh... our rotation has missed a lot of starts now.. I can't remember when the rotation was healthy... mid/late May?
As far as the bullpen goes... Feliz/Gregerson/Sipp have all become more reliable lately... which takes a huge strain off the Devo/Harris/Giles trio. Most bullpens are not 6 deep in reliability. The Astros not only have the ability to be that deep... but even deeper once Peacock comes back. In the end, its merely another strength on a team that will seemingly have no weaknesses if Keuchel comes back healthy... and they add that anticipated 3rd starter for the playoffs.
Is the bull pen being overworked in June not a concern for October? I mean I can't remember the last time a starter completed 7 innings and it feels like most of June we've been seeing them out in the 4th or 5th inning... bull pen has had to eat a ton of innings lately... at least it seems like it.... that fatigue catches up to pens in October..
Apparently we are tied for 9th in bullpen ERA, but it sure feels like the bullpen are getting starters innings and the starters are getting bullpen innings.
You want to give Gregerson and Sipp spot starts???? Feliz has already said that he prefers bullpen arm rather than starter.
No don't worry Hinch is doing his best to send a message to rookie pitchers in June. Don't worry about October it'll be fine.
