Ramona Shelburne: Rockets/Knicks working on deal for Melo

Melo can legitimately play the small-ball 4 role.

Just need someone to step in as a 15-20 minute per game guy in the 4 slot to bang with the big boys if/when required.

 

Morey is that cold blooded. He is a slave to the W and making headlines.

 

Codman has mentioned Bran Bass in the past.

 

to force his way out via buyout he has to give a big discount. I don't see this happening.

That said, he already threw away a good chunk of his prime in New York chasing the most money, has he had enough of that?

i mean do you really have to ask those questions? It's pretty obvious. Money, stay close to family and last is winning.
No way is Melo taking 10s of millions of discount that he can never make up and have to leave NY to go west coast away from his son on top of that. These are the two things he doesn't want to do the most.

Maybe u can convince him to be traded wtih his buddy CP3 and move. Maybe he can be convinced to stay in NY take his fat salary and pretend to be happy and positive. But not both of those.

I'm torn, Millsap is the better fit because we need a big who can rebound, he's a better basketball decision, but on the other hand I still don't see that team competing with the Warriors, but with Melo I actually for some reason see that team competing on star power and talent alone. And I would be more entertained. I am leaning toward Melo.

People have forgot about him because he been stuck in oblivion in New York. Let him get winning again and having fun.

 

If that's truly the order of his priorities still then he won't be playing in Houston and I'm all for him wasting the rest of his career in New York. Basically if that's still where his mind is at, there's no point in talking about it.

 

I'd love to have Melo as the third star on this team but what trade assets do we have left? EG and what?

 

Looking at their rebounding numbers they are pretty much the same. Melo had 7.7 rebounds two seasons ago and Milsap had 7.7 this last season.

 

Something we should also consider is that Millsap would work as a small ball 5, especially against Golden State.
