With the 8.4 and 3.5 million we get for being over the cap after CP3 signing, I'd say a Nene deal more likely to happen right? Also with loss of Harrell no front court bench. I really hope so!!

I'd definitely love Nene back, especially since Capela may not be here.

Gordon said Nene will be back on his Instagram live feed. This was 1 week ago.

Do they have to use one of those buckets to resign him if they have his rights?

I think he's essential, but it comes down to whether they will have the MLE to offer him, or he's asked to take the vet min if that goes to another player such as Sergio Llull (I know I know), or even a buyout candidate like Melo or DWade. Nene will have alot of offers for short term, decent money deals. I would say its not a given especially if the Rockets don't give him all they can with their MLE.

As I understand it the Rockets have no bird rights or other advantages in retaining Nene's services, though they should have the full MLE due to their cap gymnastics in acquiring Paul without using cap space.

Nene earned a much-larger-than-minimum contract with his play last year, so if we spend most/part of our MLE on him that's fine. But boy, wouldn't it be sweet if he liked his role enough to sign another vet min contract, saving the MLE for forward depth?

I wonder how Nene's view on re-signing changes, with the addition of Paul.

If anything, I feel like Nene is more positive towards Houston, now.

Rockets are operating over the cap so no need to waive him to create cap room. Can now use Bird rights to re-sign him. I think up to 20% more than last season salary.

Since we are operating above the cap, we can keep his non-bird rights, which I think will be around $3.5-$4 million. We don't have to use either the MLE or BAE to keep him.

As long as we don't spend our MLE on him in cool.

Sounds like Wiltjer too, maybe? Goodbye to men #4-15 on our roster. Haha.

We have non-bird rights, or $2.9 million (his 2016-2017 salary) times 1.25. The rockets could offer him a salary of about $3.6 million without having to use the MLE or BAE.

Not if we decide to dip under the cap and chase a big salary free agent. Trading Ryno opens up many options, who knows where Morey will take us

    Isn't the multiple 1.2, not 1.25?

Article VII - Section 6. Exceptions to the Salary Cap.
    (b) Veteran Free Agent Exception.

    (2)
If the player is a Non-Qualifying Veteran Free Agent, then, subject to Article II, Section 7, the new Player Contract may provide in the first Salary Cap Year up to the greater of: (i) one hundred twenty percent (120%) of the Regular Salary for the final Salary Cap Year of the player’s prior Contract, plus one hundred twenty percent (120%) of any Likely Bonuses and Unlikely Bonuses, respectively, called for in the final Salary Cap Year covered by the player’s prior Contract; (ii) Salary plus Unlikely Bonuses totaling one hundred twenty percent (120%) of the then current Minimum Annual Salary applicable to the player; or (iii) in the case of a Contract between a Team and its Restricted Free Agent, the Salary and Unlikely Bonuses required to be provided in a Qualifying Offer. Annual increases and decreases in Salary and Unlikely Bonuses shall be governed by Section 5(c)(1) above.

i think he's going to be looking for a bigger deal than we're willing to offer, especially considering his limited availability with injuries and all. i'm sure some other team will offer him $5-6M and morey won't match that
