    That would be upping the risk profile for sure. The situation would be EXTREMELY combustible. If it didn't work out fast, D'Antoni would get run out of dodge by these guys.

    Also that Melo had to realize his best years in NYK were thanks to MDA...it's been a complete crapshow since MDA left, with MDA there they were at least average.

    If Melo would buy in, I'd be all for him as a buyout guy for cheap money, particularly if he was fine to come off the bench. I just see massive red flags there with his history with D'Antoni. There aren't many examples of a relationship growing so toxic between a player and a coach that the coach quits his dream job DURING A SEASON.

    I mean you have CP3 and Harden on the team. Even Melo has gotta know it's in his and everyone's best interest for those two to run the offense and Melo to go full team USA mode.

    He could be. But I think in this situation the power rests with CP and Harden much more than it does with Melo. If Melo is bought out and signs with Houston, he be more of a "veteran ringchaser" than core player. His talent level, even at his peak, isn't as high as CP and Harden's also.

    But still, think about all the shooting and playmaking that the Rockets can have with a lineup involving whatever combo of CP, Harde, Melo, Gordon, Ariza and Anderson. D'Antoni would risk job security to have a shot at working with this.

    Melo was absolutely amazing in fiba and the olympics. I think D'Antoni can find a way to make it work. Melo will be much better as a 2nd or 3rd option.
