I honestly think ariza will be our starting pf next year if we net cp3. Even more so if we land Paul George as well because PG doesn't like playing the 4. If we don't get George Gordon can play the 3.

Ariza at the 4 with dekker off the bench, if he's still around, should be enough imo.

Good point and hard for me to argue against your rationale. I just wish Ryno would be more consistent lol. Wish he would just hit 4/11 every game. That's all I ask of him. Gordon is too good to let go in my opinion. But he's also a guard.

If the Rockets somehow sign CP3, I'd still want to keep Gordon for sure. Bev is a tough pill to swallow and may even be untouchable in my opinion for what he brings to the floor every night. We need size in the 4 and maybe 5 positions. Signing CP3 is nice and all but I'm not so sure it addresses our biggest issues from last season.

I just don't understand why we're even pursuing Chris Paul when Rubio is available in trade!

Rockets sign Chris Paul. Rockets actually get broken down Cliff Paul, paying him $40M. And you thought the Ryan Anderson contract was bad. :p

Except he's not. The Pacers don't care where George is willing to commit to an extension. They care about the best return they can get and Boston has more incentive to wait and see who they can get for FREE during free agency than to sacrifice pieces for a year or more of PG13.

If anything the Pacers want to wait out free agency to run the well dry of all-stars just to make the one they have available more expensive.

Finally a real rebuild when Harden bails.

That's very possible, but I don't think Ariza can really hold up as a four over the season.

This is a good example of upping the risk profile though. 100% committed to small ball!

Injuries happen. As long as the Rockets are lucky and the Warriors are not .... the Rockets need ti be ready to take advantage if they are dealt a good hand.

I'm not a big fan of going out and getting CP3 either before addressing our other needs but I guess we just have to amass talent first, regardless of position.

I honestly rather us go out and take a risk on Blake and injury history because he could fill that Amar'e role in D'Antoni's offense really well.

That would be crazy if Morey reached out to Bosh for the MLE. Talk about rasing your risk profile

    Capela
    Bosh
    George
    Harden
    Paul

I hate that we keep seeing this incorrect rhetoric.

The fact that he's a choker is completely false. He does get injured but not more so than a guy like Kyrie who is like 8 years younger than CP.

Regardless, do you guys recall who they had to get past to get to us in the WCSF 2 years ago? The final Tim Duncan led San Antonio Spurs... they took that championship contending squad to 7 exhilarating games.

CP3 was actually the man that stuck the dagger in their hearts with less than 1 second left on the clock in game 7 and if it weren't for their lack of a true bench they may have had the strength to push through our late comeback against them.

That was also part of the "excuse" as to why they couldn't make it to the WCF basically their entire team ran out of steam. Now with the team we surround him with (I'm hoping PG13 falls in line shortly after we sign CP) this would be possibly the best team he's been a part of and finally make a Finals run for once we get the rest of our roster in order.

Don't forget there can only be so many ring chasers on the GSW and Cavs... some of those fellas may be finding a new home in Houston as well... very...... very soon.

Perhaps Ariza and Dekker with a little sprinkling of Harrell and Wiltjer will do the trick

He's been playing a lot of time at the 4 and more progressively as the years go by. As he starts to slow down it might actually be better for him to play the spot up 4 on offense.

We would still be bad at rebounding though but I think his rotations at the 4 would help our interior defense along with another year of growth from Capela.

But I agree the big bruiser types would be problematic for him and could wear him down.

Ariza needs that star treatment of resting games. He's been extremely durable and has played a LOT of minutes over these past few years.

What an off-season it would be if we ended up with Paul and Hayward

    Capela
    Ariza
    Hayward
    Harden
    Paul

That bench would look suspect though

In order for us to truly be a 3pt shooting team, in my opinion, we need Ryno AND EGO in the stable. Those 2 additions last season were integral to forming/executing the Rockets' identity. If they add CP3, I'd for sure want Harden, EGO and RYNO to still be part of the core.

That doesn't even seem possible at this point. We aren't on the short list for Hayward. Other than Cyber saying we are interested, we haven't been linked to him at all. It looks like he is either going to Boston or staying in Utah.

So you went from no way this happens (leverage) to already throwing shade at the move if it actually happens.

The Rockets would be lucky to sign Paul. It all but guarantees a third star coming into the fold at some point. Ol negative nancy asses.. Lol

It's not possible to get there for Paul while keeping Ryno. It's an either or proposition. You can either add a max free agent or keep Ryno, can't do both.

    I just dont see it...
We're gonna gut the team to accommodate and overpay a 32 year old pg who plays the same position as our existing 'superstar' with overlapping skillset and each with the need to have the ball in their hands...
We're gonna end up with Ariza playing Pf - cause we're not gonna be able afford anybody else - and getting abused by teams with a real front line....
plus we're probably gonna have to dish a 4 year deal to CP3.... so we're gonna straight up concede the last couple years by paying a 34-35 year old CP3 35-40M per year... mark my words - this contract will become an albatross....
    just stupid....
a drowning man grasps at straws, eh Maurey....
