Why doesn't Morey sign two way deals?

GSW and the Mavs have used it.

    What's Morey waiting on? ;)

None of the drafted Rockets (Zhou Qi and Hardenstein) will agree to one of these, since they are meant for paying Viper's players more than usual, giving them prorated NBA pay for any time in the big league.

For that reason, I don't see any of these decisions being made until after preseason, or certainly not before Summer League. Note: Payton II did not sign his 3yr deal until Oct 24th. Anyone in the NBA signing one of these likely did not get drafted and is fighting for a full NBA contract (starting with Summer League), but will settle for a Two-way.

How can they "use it", if the Collective Bargaining Agreement hasn't even gone into effect, yet. You probably heard that they plan to, or writers speculating on certain players.

just don't think he's had an opportunity. I fully expect some of the last cuts of training camp will get two way deal offers.

He actually addressed this a bit in the post draft presser.

The two way deals are max 2 years in length and he would rather sign guys to a 3-4 year deal.

I'm sure there will be an opportunity to use them to fill out the roster , but he wants to keep his high upside talent on longer deals.

I think the new 2 way contracts can't be used to buy out existing contracts. Plus for international folks it's easier to draft and stash

Let's not focus so much on when a team might want to use one of these

IMO, It's easier to understand the usefulness by first noting that the maximum pay for a two-way deal = $275,000

And that requires you to be called up for the maximum of 45 days. Not too many players are going to sign that vs competing for a real NBA contract.

not like we'll ever see those types of players make any significant contribution to the team, if at all.

Maybe LJ Peck is our first 2 way player. We inked him today yet nothing has been said. He looks like the sleeper we all dream about. Solid wing with no big holes in his game defense leads to offensive type of player. Role player every team needs and we lack. I hope to see him develop on the bench with 5 - 10 minutes nightly in the first half till he can handle more. Cutting back some of Ariza PT with the hope of Quality not Quantity from Ariza.

Can Oliver signed a 2year deal with 300k guaranteed. So I guess he is one.

Nope. Two-Way Contracts cannot have more than a $50k guarantee. Oliver has a Standard NBA Contract.
