Hmmm someone that wants to be there, someone that wants to win...Eric Gordon? I'm sure he'd love to go back home.
I'd be pissed if I was the Indy GM . He hasn't been there forever and he isn't responsible for the pacers decline from their ~2013 peak. Even if the GM wants to rebuild and trade PG, that PG came out and said he wants to go to the lakers tanked what value IND can get back in a trade. PG Should've gone to management privately first and only spoke publicly if the management refuse multiple times to work with him.
Yea who wouldn't want to hang out on a crappy EC team? I mean we aren't elite but I think it's probably a lot of fun winning 55 games in the West.
Would not be surprised sticking point is Clint. They would love to get Clint to pair him with Myles Turner and we are hesitant
What makes you think PG didn't go to the front office privately? Look, it hasn't exactly been a steady road there in Indy. They completely imploded a few years ago, Bird used a heavy hand on George rather than treating him like a star and PG made it clear he wanted to win. That locker room was toxic according to West. The message from George has been clear since the trade deadline...he wants to win or he wants to be in LA. The whole "gut punch" thing is typical pandering to your audience.
Well, this completely rules out them holding onto PG into the season, and they likely don't want to hamstring themselves when free agency starts. This will probably end soon, and it appears we have a real shot at him.
I'm not trying to drink the Kool aid here just speaking my mind - is it possible George is doing this on purpose? What if Harden and Morey caught up with him after our games last season and have been courting him since. It's possible harden has been in his ear for months. So if that was happening, isn't it possible George concieved a plan and is playing the Lakers and the rest of the league by tanking his own worth to get to Houston, and we are in on it?
If Boston doesn't want to use some of its best pieces in a George trade then I think we are going to be the team the Pacers ultimately trade with. I think the Lakers are content with waiting. Honestly, if I was the Lakers, I wouldn't even bother with trying to swing for George and another star next offseason. I would just let the young talent grow. Getting a duo of establish stars is just going to hurt the development of their youth. Let Lonzo and Ingram grow with maybe Randall and whatever high pick they can get next year. Only go for an established star when one of those pieces is a sure fire star player; see Wolves. What else is there? Kevin Love from the Cavs? Allen Crabbe's 20M and some mid-late 1st from the Blazers? LMA from the Spurs? Not saying the Rockets have a great package but I think I would prefer Gordon (hometown kid that is still somewhat young and can still ball), Ariza (expiring), Dekker (prospect with some chance of being an average starter) and a pick more than other packages. In fact, I think a deal is already in place (hopefully from Houston) and the Pacers are holding out as long as possible to see if Boston crumbles. Pritchard is saying that George can be traded anytime so there is a deal(s) that they have found at least acceptable. They are just trying to get the best possible, which I don't blame them for but they are going to have to pull the trigger sometime and sooner better than later. The fact the Rockets seem to be still heavily involved in these talks is pretty promising. We might be used as leverage at this moment but I think there's a chance of George falling into our laps and that's all you can really hope for, especially in this NBA.
