It kinda suck to be without a 1st round pick in the draft though...not much about the asset side, but it's always cool to wait and see which player your team is going to pick etc..
That's good. We definitely don't have all the picks and assets that Celts have, but Ainge is a cheapo. If we could pull this off, would be yuuuuge
I don't see how the Celtics could still be in it. Wouldn't give coveted picks for Butler, why do it for George? They can just sign Hayward and save assets.
That's the hope the Rockets are relying on. The Pacers are hoping to crumble that resolve and make the Celtics offer something they don't want to. I think the Pacers already have a deal on the table (hopefully with the Rockets) but they are trying their hardest to get the Celtics to offer what the Pacers really want.

Would rather get George then swing for either Griffin or Milsap. Might prefer Milsap in this case. Big 3 of Harden, George and Griffin/Milsap is pretty damn good.

Knowing Morey, it could all have been a smokescreen while he was working on that other team. Also, knowing Morey, he was all-in on the superstar and struck out. At least it makes the night fun on a night when they didn't have a first round pick.
We are moving out of the Bev trade range. But what if Morey already has a deal set in place with an earlier pick, just waiting for the Pacers to stop trying to tempt the Celtics. Pacers call Rockets to tell them "It's on" then Morey finishes his Bev trade with Team X for Pick Y, then Pick Y goes in a package for George.
