Sacramento has boat loads of cap room just waiting to absorb Anderson's salary. He is from that area and the Kings have had interest in Anderson in the past. This is the dump zone.
The biggest problem with the Carmelo deal isn't getting it done, it's that it locks up our cap space for next year and probably the year after (assuming he picks up his $28M player option for 2018-2019). It would mean we're going all-in on Harden/Carmelo as our core, surrounded by Bev/Gordan/Ariza/Capela/Dekker/Nene and whatever else Morey can scrounge up on the cheap.
Yeah, i'm not sure about the Kings at this point, they had interest in Ryan also cause they had Cousins i guess...but now? It's still possible cause they're the Kings so, you never know, but i'm not sure...
i agree rhyno would have to be moved and you guys will be surprised to find teams will gladly take him from the rockets once they realize they cant make any moves and need a big man who can shoot. he performed well last season and he is a huge part of the monster season harden had. a deadeye shooter big in todays league is what teams want with defenses getting smarter.
(Oops, wha'?) My question started with IF Melo agreed to come to Houston, ostensibly as 1 of few he'd accept, which team would agree or negate a hypothetical deal. I suspect both teams would do it as it's a DM the GM kinda target. But - - is there any consideration to stretching the stretch 4 in question? Frees up a bunch and it's just Owner Alexander's $$$.
I think stretching Ryno is a bad move. I'd rather attach a pick or two to move him if you have to(in the oft chance of creating a super team)than stretching him. Like I said earlier too, realistically, all things fall through, and the Rockets still have 40 million in cap space next Summer either way. So stretching him makes little sense. And he's still a good role player to have on the team playing with Harden in that role. Look at how long it took to get a competent stretch 4. Ryno is flawed but he does what he does. If the Rockets have the chance at a super team you move the picks because they will at best be in the 20's you'd think. Of course Brooklyn had that's thinking too and look where that got them? I think the moral of the story is to be careful going in on super teams on paper. But I think Paul George is worth it. Chris Paul I'm a little more skeptical on giving up a lot to sign.
Frankly, I am skeptical of anything short of an apocalypse derailing DubsTrain this decade; hmm, if LBJ adds PG13?
Ryan Anderson and Sam Dekker is a sign and trade for Gordon Hayward. Dekker and Anderson make a lot of sense in Utah...
They can still develop that guy. They can bring Ryan in for some offensive punch just to make the team a little more palatable to watch, meanwhile he serves as a veteran presence and stop gap for their youngster. Especially if they can get him without paying much of anything. By the time their younger guys start to mature Ryan will be a good expiring contract or at worst a decent get for a fringe contender.
Wonder if sacremento would take his salary for 10th pick in draft. He is a lethal shooter, and can average 22 ppg on a average team.. Throw a future pick there way. Zach collins kid from gonzaga can block some shots.
Does not work under the CBA, exceeds maximum allowed amount of sneaky athleticism involved in one trade.
Why are we consistently overpaying people and then having to use assets to get rid of them? Lin, Sewer, and now Ryno.
Well the Rockets have 9M in capspace this season. If they trade away Ariza and Lou Will that'd free up an additional 15M, if Morey adds Dekker on top of that that'd be enough to sign a guy at the 25M. If they need a true max they can trade Bev for capspace as well. Of course doing all that would be dumb, but I'm just saying the Rox CAN sign a max Fa without trading away Anderson. TBH I'm not sure how marketable Anderson is. He took a discount to play for Houston but considering his performance I have no clue which team will want a one dimensional shooter who shoots blanks every other game (half dimensional?) and makes 18M. My dream scenario right out is doing a sign trade with Toronto for the Ibaka after Morey Jedi-mind tricked Toronto into thinking Anderson would complement Derozan, Lowry and Valanciunas with his gravity.
Lin was for a chance to create a Harden/D12/Bosh/Parsons superteam. Well worth the risk. The Lou Will trade was about Lou Will; not dumping Brewer. And let's see how this whole Ryno thing plays out, but yeah, this will probably be the first example of your theory.
I think there are teams that would take him for sure. Probably not too many, but Sacramento would probably like him, Atlanta if they don't resign Millsap, Detroit as one mentioned, hell even a team like Cleveland would consider him.... however none of these teams would give up much besides matching salary to grab him, which means we would still be paying someone else that money and that someone else would probably be more useless to us than Ryno. We've got to look past his poor playoff performances and remember he did play really well most of the regular season, to the point where he seemed to be earning his contract.
I think it'll require a unique circumstance (Melo) or swapping blatant mistake contracts (Parsons, Drummond) to get it done without draft picks. Here's to hoping I'm wrong about that.
