They had already had mention of CP3 visiting with the Rockets before PBev said that. It wasn't a dead give away or new rumor or anything. From what I've seen (haven't been through that whole thread, so might have missed it), we didn't see the whole PBev interview, so who knows what the context was... I just haven't seen a ton of smoke yet...
(If Melo sez 'YES', who sez 'NO'? Ryno/Dek - - Melo. A stretched Ryno frees up +/- 12 mil, no? I wonder if that's under (serious) consideration???
This seems like a realistic trade scenario... except Leuer makes $10.5 million. $16 million (Jackson) + $10.5 million (Leuer) = $26.5 million. Anderson will make $19.6 million. I don't think the trade even works, though if it did, the Rockets would be adding salary.
I've suggested the same deal as well. I also really like Kyle O'Quinn given our style of play and what we require from our centers, but that's a separate topic. You forget to mention Melo's no trade clause, which is a huge variable in this scenario. NY has next to no leverage. They badly want him gone. So badly that they would probably entertain the scenario you mentioned without any draft picks or sweeteners. It's a win for us, IMO. By NOOOOO means my favorite deal, but I'd rather dish out ballpark $20M to a player like Melo than waste it on a three point specialist that actually might be our weakest starter.
Having 14 million or so right now in cap space is too enticing for Morey to not try SOMETHING these next few weeks beyond the MLE (which I believe is reserved for resigning Nene IMO). I'm sure he's talking to Indiana now (if they are seriously talking is another subject), and I'm sure he will make runs at all free agents starting with Hayward, and CP3. In these scenarios though its like a rubix cube where you make a change here, and that impacts where all the other pieces go. It's impossible to know exactly where the end scenario is going to take us without that first move/signing being made. MOST LIKELY scenario is always nothing. However the first up big name looks to be Paul George if its true they want to move him before the trade deadline. I think that puts Ariza/Bev/Gordon in play well before the prospect of trading Anderson into someone's cap space does. I personally think moving Anderson into someone's cap space now with the hopes and dreams of someone signing at the cost of multiple draft picks just wont happen. I view these situations as a rubix cube rather than a mosaic painting.
Reggie BULLOCK. He makes just 2 or 3 million I believe. Would be considered minor filler salary in combination with Leuer. I doubt a team like Detroit is going to want to add in that much additional salary to take on Anderson so you're probably looking at scenarios LIKE this one where its a minor move from a talent perspective that opens up just enough salary for the Rockets to make a certain move, but isn't a scenario where we are just dumping 19 million bucks out of nowhere.
I could see some of those teams wanting Anderson, but not the salary. The salary just makes it very tough to move the guy. Hope I'm wrong.
Probably not. You'd need to be in a situation where the Knicks think he's done as a cornerstone star, Melo waves his no trade, AND the Rockets think he's got some gas left in the tank. Even then, you'd still need to give them some incentive beyond some cap space relief. Because I'm sure other teams will have a better method for taking Melo without having so much unnecessary salary long term. I don't want to get too caught up in Melo trades. I'm just using that as an example of how I would think Ryan Anderson "could be" traded in the future. This is going to be widely unpopular to suggest but Chandler Parsons would be another situation where hypothetically Memphis thought Parsons was done, and Houston was able to take his salary back with the thought he had something left in the tank that Memphis didn't. LaMarcus Aldridge is another one that a Ryan Anderson trade would make some sense in as he's a high salary player that they are giving up on for minor cap relief and a downgrade in talent for a specialist that they think will be a better fit. Hopefully that makes sense why I mentioned it.
Ah. My bad. Well, yeah I guess that's possible. I thought the trade made sense, salaries aside, because Detroit would be happy to dump Reggie JACKSON and his contract. I know/suspect Stan likes Ryno, but it's hard to see even him eager to move forward with Drummond at $22+ million, Jackson at $15+ million and Ryno at $19+ million. That's a lot of money on an incredibly horrible "big 3".
Remember Harden was in was in contact with Gordon well before the free agency period began last season so he has probably been doing the same with Chris Paul. Harden seems to go to recruit mode every time the season ends. The Rockets probably have an inclination that Paul is interested and Beverley is not stupid either. He hears things.
Maybe, but also remember had Kent Bazemore signed with the Rockets instead, then we wouldn't be talking about Eric Gordon right now. They've clearly had talks... CP3 didn't just randomly pull a team name out when he said I'm going to meet with the Rockets. My only point in this thread was the idea that we're definitely moving Anderson because we definitely have something lined up because of all the rumors we're hearing seems like a pretty long stretch at this point.
That is a horrid big 3. You'd have to assume that Stan is thinking that putting a true stretch 4 next to Drummond would open his game up in the paint. I'm skeptical of that, but its just one scenario where you could see giving a team like Detroit a low risk minor upgrade for the Rockets to get SOME cap relief. I just don't see a non contender taking Ryan Anderson for nothing short of 2 first rounders. And in that case you better damn well know for a fact that multiple all star caliber players are committed in writing.
Imo: - Atlanta yes, i think Millsap is 90% gone and Anderson at 20x would still be a good piece for them - Brooklyn will take anything but only if it makes sense for them, Anderson alone probably wouldn't, with something else next to him sure, but i think a lot of teams will call Brooklyn trying to dump salary so, i won't expect it to be easy...Portland to mane the first tema that comes to my mind, has some very bad contracts and they have 3 first rounders... - Chicago i don't see it, they have already Portis and Mirotic, they're both cheaper and younger than Anderson, and they're probably close to a full rebuild anyway so, makes no sense for them - Indiana might be a good fit all things considered - Miami eh, not sure tbh...he would be a good fit, but Riley is going after Hayward and probably Griffin, Millsap, Ibaka first, by the time they'll be done with their plan i think we'll be done with our own already - Orlando don't really know what's their plan, if they have one lol...rebuild or not, are they going to trust Gordon at the 4? - Dallas don't think so, Anderson is just not on the same category of Dirk, and per rumors they will try to draft Markkanen with the hope he turns into Nowitzki - Clippers to replace Griffin makes a lot of sense, but only if Paul doesn't bolt - Minnesota not sure, they have Bjelica which is a similar player but on a cheap contract, also not sure Thibs is a fan of Anderson and his defense - Sacramento might be a good trade partner cause yeah, they're still the Kings lol Other teams might be interested though, teams like Detroit, maybe Washington (not sure)...and i can see some of these teams being willing to trade a pick to get him too. If they need a guy like him, the contract might no be a big problem...at least i hope so.
