a lot of rumors and etc about who we may get but I can only assume we're going to dump Anderson right?. Guy has the ability to be a threat but was a roller coaster ride this season and didn't show up in the playoffs. He's literally the most useless PF if he isn't scoring. For his productivity he's extremely overpaid. Either way we're going to have to search for another PF if that's the case. If we cant land like a CP3 + Hayward/Paul/Butler and we just end up with one star signing I wouldn't mind going for Millsap. If we do land 2 stars what other PFS could fill the void
Financially-speaking, yes. You can't wish for a top tier FA without clearing space and Ryno's 20 mill is the elephant in the room. You need to send him to a team like Brooklyn, who has capspace to absorb his contract but the price on that is going to be high.
Will Ryan Anderson take himself to the trash dumpster? Or will he be smart enough and hire someone to dump him?
I disagree. Unless you are trading for an aging superstar with a mega salary like Carmelo, or are taking back MULTIPLE players with salary for a minor downgrade in cap space, he's staying in Houston guys. One deal I can think of is a deal with Detroit with Ryan Anderson (18.7 mil) going to Detroit for Leuer & Reggie Bullock (13.24 mil). Opening up about 5 million for the Rockets this Summer, and Detroit upgrading from Leuer to Ryan Anderson. That is the type of deal you'd likely see Anderson be involved in if its just to open up cap space for other deals. You aren't going to get a team like Philly or Brooklyn to use up their precious cap space without heavy amounts of assets coming back their way.
If Morey is going fishing for a player like Hayward or CP3 or even Millsap, how do you think he's going to get the capspace needed to even approach these guys without moving Anderson first?
Hopefully. Obviously we have to if we want a big FA, if we don't get one I'm fine with keeping him another year but he's pretty useless most of the time.
I feel like people are making up rumors. I've only heard these things: - DM has something up his sleeve - CP3 may meet with the Rockets - PBev - completely randomly -saying lots of teams like him Which is not a lot of smoke
Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza, and (if needed) Patrick Beverley. If you are upgrading the 3 (Hayward, or trading for PG), moving Ariza makes sense. He's not a 4 no matter what folks here try to say. He's a starter for many teams though, fills a need many teams have at the 3, and on a great contract that can be used in trades mid-season if needed. Likewise with EG as the plug in play 6th man role he showed he excelled at in Houston last year. If you are upgrading at the 1, and moving Harden back to the 2, trading Bev then makes SOME sense, and he has a ton of value as a role player to any team around the league. Anderson is just an odd fit financially for pretty much every team around the league. I'm sure the Rockets would love to move him for nothing but I just don't see it happening. The Picks are valuable if they are needed for subsequent trades and signings. I think its more than likely that only one or the other happens (meaning either one big trade, or one big signing). Either way a combination of Ariza/Gordon/Bev likely have to go first to get the first mega deal/signing done. The Rockets aren't moving Anderson and sacrificing picks when its no guarantee that a subsequent deal/signing is even remotely possible.
If you trade Eric Gordon and Pat Bev for Paul George, the only salary left you can move that is enough to sign Chris Paul is Ryan Anderson. Looking at the math I don't see how you could possible add Paul and Paul George without moving Ryan Anderson.
Right. But in that case the Rockets make the move to get Geoge, and consider it a longshot that CP3 could be added. They say to CP3 and the media that "they have a way to open up max cap room" (when they likely don't at the moment) just to get a meeting with CP3, but then they have to offer the farm to a team like Philly to take on Anderson which is highly unlikely & would be costly with no leverage in Ryno trade talks. First things first - You have to see what the Rockets have left after the first domino would in theory fall to know if you have the ability to move Anderson, but you don't move Anderson for the farm to a team like Philly NOW without already knowing that 2 star players are FOR SURE coming which they don't know.
Oh I agree, they aren't going to move Anderson unless they have a commitment that requires it. The most likely scenario to me is that none of this really materializes, they keep the team basically in tact and pursue a MLE type deap.
It won't be near as hard to trade him as some believe. Atlanta (Millsap leaves...reuniting with Dwight) Brooklyn (will take anything) Chicago (a legit shooting big for their offense) Indiana (to help spread the floor for Turner) Miami (good fit next to Whiteside) Orlando (need his shooting) Dallas (take over for Dirk) LA Clippers (good fit next to DeAndre if Griffin leaves) Minnesota (need shooting and no long term solution at PF) Sacramento (Ryan is from Sac and they tried to sign him last year) Any of those teams could be buyers. I doubt it will cost us anything...may even get a decent 2nd round pick.
Ding! Ding! Ding! I'm not a Carmelo fan, but this seems to me like the most plausible scenario for getting rid of Ryno's contract. The TopFiveâ„¢ reasons why this might happen: 1. Phil Jackson desperately wants Carmelo gone so this becomes totally his team. 2. The Knicks have a long history of making inexplicable deals. 3. Morey was totally enamored with Carmelo just a couple of summers ago. 4. Morey knows he has to pull the trigger on at least one major deal this summer. 5. Every other bring-in-a-star move by Morey will likely fail. I see something along the lines of Ryno/Lou for Carmelo/O'Quinn.
When Bev said he is or might be on the block and mentioned Paul well it is a dead give away the Rockets are looking to add Paul. To add Paul we have to clear capspace and 19 millions off the books(Ryno's deal) is the most logical choice. My gut feeling is Ariza will start at the 4 spot if Ryno is gone because I cant see us trading Trevor.. He and Harden are best buds and he seems to motivate James by being frank with him.
