Wasn't he just sentenced for that after he pled guilty? More importantly can you back up your accusation about me?
GIanforte was charged with misdemeanor assault and this week pled guilty (when he could have pled no contest). He was sentenced to anger management and community service. He also is donating $50k to the Committee to Protect Journalists. I don't know where you got your information from.
The guy you're arguing with is a known clutchfans weirdo/creep. You can pretty much count on him attacking democrats, blacks, the poor in a thread. Don't waste your time, but don't put him on ignore either, good to have around when you're having bad day---seeing that it could be worse and you could be him ...
It's a pretty standard sentence for misdemeanor assault in Montana. I mean the absolute max would be a $500 fine and 6 months in county. Given that he's a first time offender...what did you expect to happen?
And I know first time offenders who have gotten off with much more lenient sentences. Of course none of them in Montana, and that's probably the case with your fun little anecdotes as well so why don't we stick to the topic of conversation?
I didn't see his posts but if he's making a political argument out of it, he should stop and be respectful of the situation. I myself hate the glorification of guns we have in this country, but respect the 2nd amendment as most people I know do. The left needs to stop making political arguments when the blood is still warm after a tragedy, and the right needs to stop being paranoid that every liberal and democratic leader is trying to take away your guns they think keep them safe. Gun laws should be debated on there individual law merits, not given blanket paranoid statements of disillusion. The gun control debate is out of control and should be talked about elsewhere and NOT propped up by a convenient tragedy.
What scary about this is that the shooter could have almost been any left winger on this board. The rhetoric is that bad
It could be worse. None of our left wingers here defend the violence and say the victims deserved it like many Twitter users have. I am glad they have condemned this.
Let's also acknowledge that when the victims are liberals, minorities, foreigners...many on the right on social media say they deserved it. Stupid people come in all strips. RL is clearly one type of stripe.
I've only read the last page, but I'm going to assume that: a) the shooter had all the warning signs of mental illness b) nobody said or did anything, but they all knew after the fact that "something was wrong with..." c) had easy access to firearms
