CP3 is a point guard who needs to control the ball and offense. Harden is a point guard or shooting guard who needs to control the ball and offense. I think Paul is a hell of a player, just not sure how that pairing works.
Agreed. We are listed as suitors now, before free agency starts. When it does start we won't get mentioned as a finalist most likely. SMH. Story of every offseason.
Would think Spurs would be an ideal fit for him but they would have to lose some core players to sign him I'm sure.
Would be interesting. CP3 never really had another guard presence if I remember right? It's always been him and bigs, West, Chandler, Griffin, Jordan. Personally I don't like the guy as a player, he's got skills but he's a flopper, complainer and dirty dude. But it would be interesting if he and James could share the floor. I think I'd rather have Reddick....
I question the fit, but this falls in the "do it, ask questions later" column. KD chose GS as a legacy move. CP3 has already had great individual success. If our goal is to build a superteam, hopefully we can lure a player like CP3 that will prioritize winning over the comfort of staying put in LA or a likely drop in numbers sharing the rock with Harden.
no he doesn't he's a pure pg and would fit on any team looking to play good basketball. it only seems he needs to control the ball bc the lineups next to him are littered with people who can't do anything on their own. what's smarter? let guys like jj, mbah a moute handle the ball and create with their non ball handling abilities or let a cp3 do what he does as a pure pg.
Paul's game would work with anyone who wanted it to work. To me the problem with having Paul is that we've seen what Harden does when he doesn't dominate the ball. Shoot, even when he gets to dominate the ball he'll occasionally force it to someone else to handle on a possession and barely walk across half court.
Perhaps that would help Harden's energy level throughout games/the season? One of them would have to develop some off ball/classic SG tendencies. Come around picks and fire with accuracy. I'd lean Paul in this scenario because I think he's a little more crafty and true on his 3 ball but who knows...LIke you say, someone would have to show some "want to"...
He played with Blake Griffin, one of the best passing bigs in the game and there were reportedly tensions between them, over Paul trying to micromanage everything rather than letting Griffin be one of the facilitators. Paul is a great pure point guard, but taking James off the ball (taking either one of them off the ball) doesn't play to strengths. Both could, I guess, play off the ball but neither wants to nor is it the best use of either of their skills.
ok he played with BG, what does that mean? you let him handle the ball and create while also being the primary option as one of your bigs? that makes no sense really cp3 has played off ball fine when the clips play there backcourt with him rivers, felton, collison, crawford, bledsoe at the same time.
