Port Rich wants to become the 51st State

    I would support statehood if it came with terms requiring their government to fix their ****. Adopting 50 billion in debt shouldn't be high on our priority list.

    Not allowing them in based on likely party affiliation is the most asinine reason I can think of for denying Puerto Rico statehood.

    If there's a definitive benefit to the people of PR and to the country as a whole, then they should be allowed the opportunity if they really want it. I would presume they would have to completely restructure their government and have to live up to certain markers set by Congress. I don't know all of the nuances about the situation so I'm not going to pretend to know what the problem is.

    Same reason Washington DC will never be a state. Repubs are against democracy.

    Those guys were Republicans back when Republicans were country-first type of people.

    Missed the point. Wasn't about them being republican it was that they were against making D.C. A state
