I'm not sure if it's worse if they are oblivious to the optics of it, or if they were aware but still felt they needed to participate in it anyway.

So I thought it was a few. It was all of the cabinet members praising. WTH. It's like witnessing north Korean praising their beloved leader.

 

They are producing clips for FoxNews and Sinclair networks. The optics aren't for those of us thinking critically about this. The optical are in the service of maintaining an alternate reality inside the right-wing bubble.

These people are who they are showing us they are. We should believe them.

 

Mr. trump looked very stressed and nervous as hell during that cabinet meeting, and maybe a bit scared. Just look at his body language. The man couldn't end the "meeting" soon enough. The cabinet, such as it is? They should all be ashamed of themselves.

I think that's right. It was an event scripted for friendly media so they could write a story about how confident the cabinet is in the Administration. But unfriendly media managed to snatch away the narrative and make it about totalitarianism.

 

Fair point. I wonder how much that narrative is playing inside the bubble, though.

 

To be fair both to Trump and Patton, she may be very qualified... but... an event planner? And one with ethical question marks?

I think the more annoying aspect is that he obviously thinks he is being so clever with his response. Its as if he is laughing at both the Senators asking the questions and the American people he is supposed to serve. I am really hoping that he is the first to go... hard to think anyone could be more harmful in such an important role (DeVos may be less qualified... but she doesn't seem as intentionally harmful).
