Comey: Asked a friend to reveal contents of his memo in order to prompt appointment of special counsel
These are the sad truths. The only way his base is going to turn on him is if he says let Muslims in.
Heck no. A lot of people now push the narrative that he never should have been to begin with. We are way more partisan today.
Trump must be loving this. They need a sad trombone sound to play every time Comey answers a Democrats questions.
Although one major difference is that Democrats had 56 Senate seats and 291 House seats after the 1974 election. Granted Democrats were hardly a unified bloc back then but that's a very different situation in comparison to today. Having the opposition party with a supermajority in the House and a significant majority in the Senate is very different. But I do agree that if Democrats had 56 Senate seats today, a vote on the articles (assuming the House votes to impeach) would probably fail.
Bottom line is that Nixon would be impeached if the Republic Congress feared losing re-election due to Nixon taking them down. Let's not forget that Reagan likely committed impeachable offenses wrt Iran Contra, but the electorate remained loyal to him so Congress did not need to act in self preservation. Same thing with Clinton.
This. Trump's way to passively ask for the end of Flynn's resignation is not going to move the needle with congress especially when there is no proof of it. It's he said, she said. I think a big issue is what Trump might have said to the intelligence heads concerning the investigation which is something that those heads would not answer in their testimony yesterday.
isn't that for the investigation to find out? so far the trump admin is being shone in a pretty damning light and at best flat out incompetent.
haha so there's literally nothing to see here, then. got it. the mental gymnastics you must do to support your team no matter the situation speaks volumes to your character.
Seriously... you think this has been a win for Trump? The former FBI Director took notes because Trump is a liar. The loyalty oath was considered a *political* loyalty oath. The 'I hope you drop the investigation" was interpreted to be a directive. And the "not under investigation" was narrowed down to "dossier" and "counter-intelligence". Even gets in the question about Sessions recusal and Trump's odd threat about tapes ("lordy"). Nothing may come out of this, but if Trump is loving this it must only be because he knows the there won't be impeachment proceedings... not because he came out of this testimony looking good. Seems the Trump supporters are already seeing the downside of this. Trump's son is tweeting attacks on Comey. Paul Ryan is just tweeted: Heck, even my in-laws have given up... turned the TV volume down and wandered off.

are you purposely being dense? what do you think this entire thread is about? a foreign government meddled in our elections. that foreign government had direct conversations with members of this administration before and after - all of which is proven fact. with that knowledge, you're having a hard time finding a legitimate reason for an investigation? but benghazi certainly warranted an investigation, right? again, your mental gymnastics are fun to watch.
