... and as true with Trump, there always is a tweet... Mr. Trump, any thoughts on a person involved in an investigation getting a chance to talk with investigators?
Hillarious that Trump doesn't realize that his big "mouth" (both literally and via twitter) and obtuse overreactions are what is generating the evidence to keep this alive. Slick Willie vs Tourette's Trumpy - a true contrast between a pro, and an overmatched dilettante. Any politician with the slightest cleverness/guile would have wiggled his way out of this months ago, but Trump keeps stoking the fire.
I think I agree with this. There is just enough available now for both sides to say it proves there side. People that have been leaning towards "constitutes impeachable offense" can point to Comey's statement re: dropping the Flynn investigation, questions of loyalty, and questions of continued employment as evidence of obstruction. Trump supporters will point to the statement about not being under investigation (of counter intelligence) as evidence "Trump was not under investigation" and Trump was telling the truth about that. Interesting that both side need to "hedge their bets" a bit. Trump detractors have to hedge since the Comey statement doesn't go far enough on obstruction. The Trump supporters have to hedge with "Well, it was inappropriate but not illegal". And pretend they didn't read the part about Russian hookers. Course, Comey may still throw in a surprise or two with actual testimony, especially in response to questions. And the Mueller investigation can and probably will uncover more.
Funny... my in-laws (especially my MIL) asked me to make sure to turn on the TV so they can watch Comey's testimony (she said Comey in a way that made sure I knew Comey was a terrible criminal). 'Course, as normal with her and Trumpsters, she had the wrong start time for testimony... she thought 9am CT, and its really 10am. I was tempted to turn the TV on to CNN or MSNBC, but being the good son-in-law put it on Fox so they could get the "fair-and-balanced" reporting. Along with the pre-testimony analysis (TRUMP IS INNOCENT!!). More annoyance... she is very hard of hearing... so she had FIL turn it up. even with doors closed I hear it in my office. Gotta drown it out with Stern replay.... Hopefully there is some Trump supporter with a visiting "libtard" in-law having to listen to Joe Scaraborough or Maddow at full volume today to keep the karmic balance in the universe...
There is always the thought he knows he's innocent and enjoys watching everyone (his enemies) waste their time trying to prove his guilt. We can debate Trumps intelligence and value, but there is no debate Trump is a very good manipulator. Just to clarify (since its always needed around here), this is not a kudo's to Trump. Its the opposite. People are wasting their time trying to find the Russian boogieman while Trump is busy doing things that probably need to be debated. Distractions are the most simpleton of strategies and the media and Trump haters are falling hook line and sinker.
He is a terrible manipulator. Very ham-fisted. He trys to strong arm everybody, and like the narcissist he is, completely laks empathy for other people and their viewpoints. He's also terribly obsessed with looking strong, a major impediment. He has the personality of a thug, with none of the attendant physical menace. The idea that he's really generating the whole Russia kerfuffle to distract everybody is laughable.
Seems like an interesting dynamic in that household. Which way does your wife lean? I recommend the QC35 by bose for noise cancelling. Excellent on planes or for screaming babies.
LOL. I need to buy some, wish Amazon offered a 10 minute delivery. My wife teeters between GOP and Democrat. Both our daughters voted (my youngest her first vote) for Clinton. My wife refused to say who she voted for, but after the health care and college loans issues that directly effect our family, she is now vocally anti-Trump. We make a concerted effort to not discuss politics when the in-laws visit. When Obama was President my in-laws, especially the MIL, was always complaining about Obama. To be honest they are much less vocal about politics now, perhaps thinking the three of us would be more apt to bring up Trump stuff. Both in-laws let slip an occasional questionable comment that could and should be construed as racist, but not suggesting that is true of other Trump supporters. Just guess its more their age, their era, and political frustrations slipping through. Arggh... they just turned up the TV volume. You can hear it outside the house even. Its drowning out Stern. With the occasional comment from my MIL. Its going to be a long day... can someone come to my house with headphones? I will pay $$$$.
A case for it? Sure Enough for conviction? No I want Trump out badly, but right now none of his individual transgressions is enough to garner impeachment, even if Republicans weren't in control. Maybe more will come, but right now, he'll continue to skate by.
Agree... but here's the low bar we have with this president... "he will continue to skate by". A recurring theme.
And most if not all of his supporters will view it as a positive. He's shaking things up and the establishment is trying to take him down for it!!!!!!111
actually, his complete incompetent, reckless behavior and blatant and constant lies should be enough - endanger the US interest and it's military and so on... really, it should be. And his corruption and conflict of interest should also be plenty enough. But impeachment is political and there is no way it would happen. I doubt it even happen if he's caught red handed talking with the Russian through back-channel. I used to not think this way btw; i think we can make it ... we can survive lies, corruption, recklessness, incompetent... but why should we? We need to demand so much more from our public officials, especially the very top one. It's mind blow how much we have lowered the bar. Simply amazing.
this he is a master off... all indication is he has honed this skill over a life time; he is going to easily able to manipulate his base to stay with him whatever happen, a big majority of the right and even some on the center as well Here is a guy who know a bit about a life time manipulator.
We should hold our public officials to higher standards the why we have allowed them to do whatever they have wanted an not listen to the people has to stop it time to get out and make your vote count.
Context of Comey telling Trump he wasn't under investigation: Was specifically referring to the salacious dossier that was leaked.
Trump told Comey he was considering ordering Comey to investigate the dossier and Comey warned him that would create a narrative that he was under investigation personally for the dossier.
Comey: We weren't investigating president as part of counter-intelligence, weren't hiding a criminal investigation and weren't investigating the president at the time of his firing
