No need for comments like this. The vast majority of the money went to charity, like over 90%

Without info on why costs went up this is a hatchet job

The first problem with the thread is the article is mostly about the Eric Trump Foundation run by Eric Trump

The article has a problem with Trump having other people donate to his foundation

It's just all over the board not making any clear point

    More innuendo just like Russia

Are y'all ever reading this stuff?

According to a report released Tuesday by Forbes, once his son Eric's charity golf tournament started raising a substantial amount of money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which specializes in pediatric cancer, Trump began charging for the use of Trump Organization golf courses, and, ultimately, funneling the money the tournament raised into other charities that benefited Trump's business interests.

That is wrong. You are making excuses for him... "it was only a small amount.." you are being an apologist for him.

Trump installed his own people on the foundation's board, which was initially made up of friends of Eric's who had no financial interest in the Trump Organization's success. The Trump associates added to the board included Trump attorney Michael Cohen and Trump social media director Dan Scavino Jr.

"They were wearing two hats," Patrick Lanagan, a former director of golf at Trump National Westchester, told Forbes. "You're dealing with people talking about the event and the charity who also at the same time are thinking about it as a corporation and as a business. It's a for-profit club. You know, they're trying to make money."

Soon after the new board took over, large sums of money meant for St. Jude's were rerouted to other charities run by associates of Trump.

    Two things

    Money went to other charities
It still seems St Jude's received a great deal of the money

It's not like money went to Donald

The article basically says over the years 11 million from the charity went to St Jude's. Eric raised another five million through other charities for sy Jude's

So $16 million to St Jude's
Then it says 1.2 million went to Trump Foundation a lot for use of the course

Then it goes into a bunch of innuendo about the 1.2 million

All the numbers are in the very beginning

The rest of this very long "investigative piece" is very poorly written

I mean some of the 1.2 million went to charity

It just doesn't really have a point

From the USA Today reporting of same:
The Trump Organization claimed it was donating the use of Trump golf courses and other assets. Still, the costs for the tournaments averaged $50,000 during the first four years, which is about what other charities pay for events at Trump courses. But the expenses quickly began to rise, reaching $322,000 by 2015, Forbes reported, citing IRS filings. If accurate, these figures are hard to reconcile with Eric Trump's claims that the charity is able to use the course for free and that many other expenses are donated. "We get to use our assets 100% free of charge," the president's son told Forbes. "In reviewing filings from the Eric Trump Foundation and other charities, it's clear that the course wasn't free — that the Trump Organization received payments for its use, part of more than $1.2 million that has no documented recipients past the Trump Organization," Forbes reported. "Golf charity experts say the listed expenses defy any reasonable cost justification for a one-day golf tournament."

In addition, more than $500,000 in donations were given to other charities, "many of which were connected to Trump family members or interests, including at least four groups that subsequently paid to hold golf tournaments at Trump courses," the magazine reported.

I'm not sure why @pgabriel has a problem with the article. Eric Trump was lying. He claimed that because it was at the Trump golf course all of the facilities were basically free so that more money would be going to the cancer charities. Then once the actual filings came out (which is more than innuendo) it turns out that he wasn't donating the facilities but charging the cancer charities to use them, so that his business was making money.

So it was a lie and the whole set up made money for Trump's businesses. Then, on top of that instead of giving all of the money to the kids' cancer charities, the money started being given to other charities run by Trump family members and associates. It is dishonest, sleazy, and backed by actual records so it does go beyond innuendo to actual records of the dishonesty and greed.

A rational person wouldn't believe Trump stole some money from this charity in plain view and got away

Just like a rational person wouldn't think he is a Russian double agent

False choice. But... we already know these things about Trump. A rational person would not be surprised by continued reports of shady things from Trump charities.

Trump used $258,000 from his charity to settle legal problems

Trump Foundation lacks the certification required for charities that solicit money

Trump Foundation admits to violating ban on ‘self-dealing,’ new filing to IRS shows

Trump promised millions to charity. We found less than $10,000 over 7 years.
