if we were going to trade any of these guys, we should've traded with the Kings last season instead of now for mediocre draft picks.

    i'd say:

Patrick Beverly could net you a late lotto pick as a big piece of a package because he's two more years at $5 mil (insane value) and coming off his best season. Gritty vet that will make any team better.

Capela, and Deker get you late lotto/ mid-1sts because they are young players with legit upside; both still on rookie-scale deals; both coming off of years where they took another step.

Gordon probably gets you a 1st, but hard to know exactly where because his contract is less of a value and more years

You could get a late first rounder for Lou (basically what we gave up for him); instant offense coming off his best year; he's got another year at $7 mil (insane value)

Ariza gets you probably only a 2nd rounder at this point.

Harrell probably gets you a 2nd rounder at this point.

    Anderson is probably unmovable.

Capela is our best asset not named Harden . I could see him getting us a pick in that 12-16 range like u said.

My gut tells me that Gordon and Bev can get u picks in the 20-25 range, but if a team really likes them I could see them getting u a pick in the 15-20 range. Ariza can get u a pick in the 20-25 range. Lou can get u a pick in the 25-30 range. Dekker can get u a late 1st if a team likes his potential.

if you go by contract then easily ryan anderson

conversely, he also has the lowest draft pick trade value

Rather keep Capela, he fits. Same with Bev and Ariza.

My for sale list to buy a pick would be

    Anderson
    Lou
    Harrell
    Dekker
    2017 2nds / future picks

we'd have to give away a pick to get a team to take Anderson. I agree with you on Capela. I think we keep Bev unless we go into full rebuild (which i don't think Les will ever do). As far as Ariza goes, i think we'd be lucky to get a late 1st rounder for him, and i'd take that gladly. Ariza is on my "for sale list".

We could part with Lou and not have the world come to an end (he's a FA next year anyway), so i'd pick up a late 1st for him too.

I think we want to keep Dekker, especially if we trade Ariza.

I think Gordon is the 2nd best player on the team, so you only trade him if you are rebuilding.

I think the best we could hope for without giving up anyone life-changing would be a couple late 1sts. I still think late 1sts have value and it's important to hit on some of them. Boston (Isaiah Thomas) and Golden State (Draymon Green) would agree.

That's only half of the equation. It takes two sides to create market value in a trade. If the Rockets won't move him for #22 then his value also isn't #22, regardless of if a team would trade that pick for him.

    No way he gets #4.

I was just noting I see his value as closer to #8... based upon a real this is who has the #8 pick this year analysis. I could see the knicks making that move... but for the fact that they are so in the crapper and already have Noah locked in at a ridiculous $17 million a year plus. If they had won 37-39 games instead of 31 and were just like. We need a real C to go next to Porzingis it'd be doable

Now i doubt Morey would even do that. He's not loving Capela for Frank Ntikilina, Laurie Marraken or Luke Kennard.

He MIGHT be intrigued if Malik Monk is available... but that'd be at its best giving up Capela for a CJ McCollum type player at 19 years old. Pass

If Bev is not a PJax lust I'd be greatly surprised. Then they could save other assets and cap room over Rubio. So, yeah. That's what I said.

And I still would not make the deal.

    in order,

I went Bev... I think teams have seen his ceiling but with the consistent level of effort he gives, being a good glue guy and teammate, grittiness... some team would be willing to give up too much for him...

I considered going CC #1 on higher potential/ceiling... but shorter contract with potential to have overpay in the near future for a developing player... still a decent return...

Ariza - vet on an expiring... somebody would pony up a bit for the economical vet rental...

Gordon - I think he would bring a decent return, but teams would temper their offers due to past injuries and length of contract...

Lou - vet spark on a rental... could get a little something...

    Decker... minimal appeal...

he would be crazy to say no to a deal like that, and the Knicks would be even crazier to offer it

u could get a guard like Malik Monk or a big like Lauri with that pick, both would fit our offense tremendously...the pick would also be very valuable as a trade chip for a veteran upgrade

I love Bev, but he is nowhere close to being worth the 8th overall pick

If we could get #8 for Capela (in my opinion impossible) then the next logical move would be #8 and Ryan Anderson into some teams cap for their lower pick. Say the Nets at 22. They take 8, Harrell, #45, and Anderson and give us 22 and 27. All agreed to at the draft but not executed until later in the off-season so we could possibly broaden the deal.

Hmm, essentially dump Ryan using Capela? I'm not sure if that's a wise decision. Again, personally I'm not huge on Capela and think he's expendable like everyone else on the team not named Harden, but at the same time he's still a valuable player on the Rockets. trading one of our bigs to dump Ryan who is another player who has a key role on the team for two late first would likely anger Harden and also make us worse. Unless we also take back Lopez in that trade. Or get some rotation player.

And to Jaz: I do think you're missing the point of this thread. Again, this is about draft pick values. Nothing else. Of course Capela is worth more than the 22nd pick in the draft. Hell, Capela is worth more than the #22 and #27 picks from Brooklyn. That must mean he's worth a lot, right? But OKC would be stupid to trade their #21 for Capela which means that OKC VALUES their #21 more than Capela. Unless of course they flip him for another player.

Just look. Capela isn't worth a top 8 pick in the league. 9 and 10 are the Mavericks and Kings who both have WCS and Nerlens. 11 are the Hornets who like Cody Zeller a lot, and when Cody went out the Hornets began their free fall. #12, #13, #14, and #15 are the Pistons, Nuggets, Heat, and Blazers who all have their centers in Drummond, Jokic, Whiteside, and Nurkic.

#16 and #17 are actually close with the Bulls and the Bucks. I actually said #17 in my OP and not #22. I honestly can't read the Bulls and have no idea if they would want Capela over Robin Lopez. #18 are the Pacers who have the superior center in Turner. #19 are Hawks who have Dwight. #20 and #21 are Blazers and OKC. #22 are the Nets who have Brook Lopez but like if I mentioned in my OP if they trade Brook then Capela for #22 is a smart trade for THEM. Keyword: THEM. #23 and #24 are the Raptors and Jazz. Raptors are similar to the Bulls in which case they may be better trading #23 for something else since they have Jonas. Jazz have Gobert. #25, #26, #27 are Magic, Blazers, and Nets. I believe all three teams say yes to that trade that late in the draft. Same with #28 and #29 with Lakers and Spurs. Jazz say yes to Capela at #30 and then they flip him since they can't pay both Gobert and Capela.

Again, of course Capela is worth more than #17 or #22, but we are talking strictly draft pick values here. You are thinking about it in a different way than I am in which we also receive more than just the pick. If the Spurs had the 8th pick in the draft and we offered them Capela I would have trouble believing they'd say no and then Capela's perceived draft value would be #8 because that's the best we could get in a hypothetical Capela for a draft pick trade.

I agree overall, i just see Lou having a bit less value (more in the 30/35 range) and Gordon a bit more (10/15), not that it changes much from your take, but i can see Eric getting us a 10/15 in the right deal...aside for his injuries in the past he has been pretty solid this season, a strong SG who can score, shoot and defend is something every team needs as today, he's also still 28 and has a good contract for 3 years. He would easily be the third if not second best player in multiple teams imo.

Well, hopefully a draft pick that would allow us to select Jordan Bell.

If we don't get Jordan Bell we'd better hope and pray the Spurs, Warriors, Jazz, Twolves, or Grizzlies don't get him. He's a monster.

Draft picks are fool's gold. The misses outweigh the hits exponentially; then there are the Butlers & Thomas' & yes, Kawhis who make some look brilliant and put into question everyone else. Yeah, Bev is worth the #8 to Knixies. Convince me there's a #8 or higher, even, who will contribute to a deep p/o run in '18.

dude, Bev isn't worth the 8th to the Knicks, that's just delusional...

We would have to see how these guys do in the NBA 1st. The 8th pick could also be used in a deal to get some veteran help like I said earlier, but it doesn't matter anyways because Bev getting u the 8th pick is delusional thinking that shouldn't even be discussed seriously.
