I'd like maclin here. He can still beat press coverage, kryptonite for most of the receivers here not named deandre
$5 mil a year is what the Bills are looking at right now from what the reports are saying. They could be desperate and pay more though, since Watkins is still dealing with the foot issue from the past 2 years.
Sure, but Maclin was struggling with injuries all season long, I mean he only played in 12 games and he was dealing with groin injuries for quite a bit of those games. Fuller played more and was targeted quite a bit more in order to put up basically comparable numbers to the worst season Maclin has ever had.
We won't go after Maclin mainly because they like what they have right now. Fuller has the upside while Maclin is on the decline. B. Miller should show improvement as well.
That's probably true, but honestly I see Maclin's floor this season being above Fuller's ceiling. They probably won't want to spend the cap space when they have so much invested in the position already, they'll just hope what they have improves. I'm not going to knock them for it, but I could see why BOB would push for it given that if his offense keeps trending down, his ass is fired.
With Mumph cut and Strong surely on the bubble this year especially after this injury, we need to get someone in here who can take pressure off Hopkins. Can't go into the year with 1 pro bowler and 2 second year guys and expect to see results from Savage and Watson.
This is exactly how I feel about our situation. I personally am a big fan of Fuller and Miller and I think they're going to improve tremendously this year (especially Braxton). That said, it would be foolish to assume that it's going to happen. The history of the league is littered with guys that showed huge promise then flamed out quickly. I think Maclin would be the type of guy that could provide excellent insurance against any stalled growth from our very young receivers.
According to Pat's podcast, Kendall Lamm and Stephen Anderson have had subpar/disappointing camps up to this point. OTA’s is no pads, so it’s mostly passing drills (DBs vs WRs and TEs). In respect to the Kendall Lamm part, He was seeing first team reps with Brown’s holdout and Chris Clark resting. He was being beat by UDFA’s. http://www.scout.com/nfl/texans/story/1782024-podcast-second-week-of-otas
Savage and Braxton looking good: https://torotimes.com/2017/06/02/houston-texans-news-d-j-reader-has-big-shoes-to-fill/
Considering the contract we gave Brock and the King's ransom we gave up for Watson, it's safe to assume that the staff doesn't think too highly of Savage.
What fullcourt said. First he puts savage on ir even though he could have come back during the season. He let's Brock stink it up for almost the whole year before letting savage start. Savage does well but loses his job because of a concussion. Brock comes back to start and suck again. Then he drafts Watson.
I read it as Bill not liking him going into the season. I still think the whole crock thing was ricks doing that got signed off by bob anyway. And to be honest it was a kings ransom IMO. The 2nd rounder had to go but we essentially trade a future first and a 2nd to move up and grab Watson.
