Uhhhh, Silver took over in 2014, long after Cleveland had formed its superteam under the watch of David Stern (and Boston and others before it). Do facts even matter anymore?
I've seen too many supposed superteams come and go to be worried about it anymore. Guys get injured, guys demand trades, guys get thrown big money in free agency, guys get thrown away in GM gambles, guys have chemistry problems. There's always something to come along and destroy a superteam way before the end of its natural life. GSW may rack up a couple of championships. If it's 3, they've done really well for themselves. If it's more than 3, I'll be absolutely shocked.
So let's pretend the Lakers vs. Kings never happened. Lakers vs Celtics Game 7 didn't happen. Let's pretend it's not fishy the Cavs kept winning #1 picks for LeBron's return home. Let's pretend New Orleans vetoing a trade AND winning the #1 pick under Sterns ownership for a sale weren't fishy at all. How about all the way back to the first lottery and just so happened Sterns Knicks won. Countless and countless examples right in front of our face. Hell..our Rockets/Mavs series? Were just going to pretend Tim Donaghy was some crazy person and just 1 bad apple right? The NBA is a business and cousin, business is booming thanks to fans like you who think it's just a bunch of coincidences. Everyone thinks the media hates the Houston Rockets...it's no conspiracy to me..it's not "hate" but there's something there from the Rockets beating every media members team in 94...the New York Knicks. That fueled the bias towards us that continues today under Sterns little buddy and fellow New Yorker Adam Silver. What do the Rockets have to do with the Cavs winning? Lol...its all about GS VS CLE round III. This is no different than GGG or Canelo winning just because they can't be allowed to lose in order for their fight to happen.
I don't think anyone cares if Superteams are formed via draft. Though it was fishy that the 2 best college rivals happened to play for the Lakers and Celtics (Magic and Bird).
The competitiveness of the league was far better under stern than silver. It's more than obvious that silver wants another warriors/cavs finals just so he can make the most money. None of lebrons "super teams" were unstopplable or even heavily favored by the league under stern. Unlike today.. Boston was a bunch of old men getting together it was barely a super team. If we were under stern still there's no way players would be getting paid what they are. When you can afford 5 max contracts you are ruining the league.
Package Ariza/Lou Will/etc for Paul George. Sign Reddick for 12 million with the contract backloaded in years two and three. Win championship I'm Kidding.
Spurs can beat GSW and CLE, this is the same team that owned GSW by 30 pts, their worst loss of the season. Cleveland winning no 1 picks is so Lebron can go home? Wtf? Since when was CLE a glamor city or a big market? Nobody even expected Lebron to go back to cleveland at the time, everyone thought he would stay in Miami where they either won a ring or got to Finals the past 4 years. Cleveland botched all their picks, irving was ok but tristan thompson was a reach and they messed up on all their picks including the one they traded for Love. To keep giving picks to CLE which is a small market with no fanbase on the off chance Lebron would go back is just dumb and makes no sense. If the NBA wants certain teams to win why does the Spurs have the most rings? Tim Duncan was known as the most boring superstar and finals between Spurs and New Jersey resulted in worst tv ratings of all time. You mean the MBA would want boring and half court team Spurs to win vs exciting uptempo and New Age showtime Nash Phx Suns? Wtf
I think the next super team is most likely Boston again. They have the cap space and the draft picks to repeat what they did a few years ago. Their only competition to reach the finals would be Cleveland. Players that are probably going to be moving this summer are Blake Griffin, Paul George, and Kyle Lowry so I would not be surprised if any of those guys went to the Celtics.
Possible Super teams in future: Philly: Simmons, Embiid, Saric, (Fultz/Ball/Jackson/Tatum)? Lakers: Russell, Ingram (Ball/Fultz?) Clippers: Jordan, Blake, Melo, Redick, Paul Celtics: (Michael Porter 2018, Fultz 2017) Thomas, Horford Super role players So many possible options Rockets need to do whatever it takes to get atleast 1 more star- we can atleast have a 2 star team with super role players like lou, gordon, ryan, capela, nene
if lakers lose their pick to philly i think Lakers will trade everything for George and sign Lowry and Griffin in Free agency
GS got blown out in game 1 of the regular season, starting off 0-1. Since then, they've gone 75-15 (67-14 reg season + 8-0 postseason) SA lost Parker for the rest of the season and Kawhi might not be 100%, come Sunday. Add to that: Durant gelling with the team for the entire season? Yeah, the two teams facing off this Sunday are NOT the same teams that played on opening night.
Spurs still better than Rockets though, Rox have almost no chance against either Cleveland or GSW. Are you really gonna underestimate Popovich and the Spurs esp. before Parker got hurt? If there is an NBA conspiracy and Silver is all about GSW vs CLE so he can make Lebron win then how come the calls favored SaS more than the Rockets? More importantly if that poster or you think this all rigged why continue watching the NBA? Everybody screams about conspiracies but everybody continues watching. Put your money where your mouth is and stop watching the NBA if you think this is all some sort of WWE BS.
...what the hell are you talking about? I'm contending the point that the two teams facing off today aren't the same as the ones back in October/November 2016. No idea why you're mentioning conspiracy theories.
Because thats the reason why I said that? Why don't you read the post history of the guy I was replying to instead of blindly replying to me
that would get them back into the playoffs, but they still have no hope of winning a chip with a Big 3 like that
As long as the NBA is a two-team league, hopefully they send some help Cleveland's way. Maybe get the Banana Boat friends along for the ride.
CP3, Wade, Melo and Dwight should all i join up in the East. Jimmy and PG13 and Blake should join up in the East too. If we have to deal with super teams, it might as well be the 80s where there were at least 4 super teams. You had the Celtics, Lakers, Sixers, Pistons, and several other very good teams throughout like the Bucks, and Hawks and a bunch of young future HOF'ers leading their own teams. Meanwhile, the Rockets can make a big splash by signing Dannilo Gallinari to a max contract.
There is a chance that the Timberwolves could sign Lowry, CP3, Millsap, or even Blake. Bucks could get CP3 or Lowry if $$ is cleared up. Blazers could trade for PG13 to add to their big 3. Lastly, Pelicans are a great PG away from a superteam.
