I totally get Harper and Trout dominating the headlines...but the Yankees/Judge crap is just ridiculous. But it's the Yankees, so I guess I understand that too.

Today's pitcher has some legit stuff.

He's been averaging 7 innings a start in his 3 starts this year -- given how beaten up the Twins bullpen is, we should hopefully get some deep counts on him and not let him get to the 7th inning.

The Yankees LOST the game too. LOL.

Also I didn't know the Yankees were so terrible that a Judge solo homer is grounds for national news. I honestly thought they were a pretty good team this year.

According the baseball-reference.com, Ervin Santana had the 4th best start yesterday with 1 ER in 7 innings. His team lost 16-8 lol.

Judge has replaced Stanton as the big guy who hits massive HRs that everyone needs to watch.

Does Judge get replaced in 2 years when he's Stanton's age?

They just refuse to give the Astros any props. If they keep playing like this, they're gonna have to!
    Or maybe not.

Yao Ming effect. You can manufacture a human in a test tube and pump him full of growth hormone in adolescence, stopping it years before he ever has to be concerned about drug testing.

They were just deemed "clearly the best team in baseball" on SportsCenter.

eta: thought this was fun, from espn.com

From Mark Simon, the Astros' win probability at various points:

    • Entering eighth inning, Astros down 8-2: 0.7 percent

    • Carlos Correa's RBI single, 8-3: 5.0 percent

    • Marwin Gonzalez's two-run single, 8-5: 11.0 percent

    • George Springer's RBI single, 8-7: 22.4 percent

    • Josh Reddick's two-run double, Astros lead 9-8: 71.2 percent

    • Jose Altuve's RBI single, 10-8: 83.4 percent

    • Carlos Beltran's three-run HR, 13-8: 97.8 percent

It takes a fight for national radio talking heads to talk baseball. That's why I'm a believer of throw at the batter. Got to make baseball great again. At least the no. 3rd sport. Futbol, Football and baseball.

Can't wait for tonight. Fiers the bat whisperer vs berrios

Yeah, he's good. Dominated AAA last year and this one. 22:4 K:BB in 21 MLB innings.

They're about the same age, wonder if Correa played much against him back in PR.

Probably not when he is still in New York and if he stays healthy, though you have to think at some point he'll start looking more like the player he was in the minors.

Berrios has the makings of a great pitcher but he's young and gets rattled at times. As yesterday shows the Twins bullpen is awful. That was the second time this season that Santana has pitched a good game only watch the bullpen implode. If the Stros can shake Berrios' confidence this could be another big game.

I'm feeling pretty excited to b at Target Field tonight!

Astros regularly get more attention than any other team in baseball right now. We have some seriously whiny fans.

If you watch or listen to MLB Network, they gush about the Astros constantly. The people who care about the sport talk very highly about our team. And most importantly, the FANS are talking about the team. I'm hoping to see some packed stadiums this summer. There's simply no excuse to not support this team.

    I had never checked that.

A year ago, Judge was a 24 year old in AAA, with an .850 OPS, and 19 HR in 93 games. Naturally, he's got 17 HR in in 46 games, with an 1.100 OPS.

Just for reference, Derek Fisher is a 23 year old in AAA with a 1.000 OPS, and 12 HR in 48 games. So, we should expect him to be Mike Trout next year.

If you also want hope... AJ Reed was drafted a year after Judge, and so next year in the majors would place him on the Judge timeline. His numbers BA/OBP numbers are almost dead on, and his slugging (with a slow start) is only about .030 lower than Judge last year.

Baseball in general doesn't generate much attention outside of sports circles unless it involves some sort or really unique storyline.

They have that list over in the GARM about the 100 most famous athletes. Not that I really care about that list, but it is telling that the supposed National Pastime of the most powerful sporting country in the world doesn't have a single player on it.

we definitely don't get "more attention than any other team in baseball" unless you're just speaking in hyperbole... yanks, cubs, red sox, dodgers will always get more coverage regardless of our record. but we're also not going unnoticed by any stretch of the imagination. just thought it was highly suspect that on espn's website there was literally zero mention of our game yesterday but half a dozen on the nats/giants brawl and 2 or 3 on aaron judge who i don't even think is leading the league in HR's yet for some reason get's his own HR tracker piece.
