So if the DH leaves a game, only the pitcher can replace him?

Might be the rule, but neither scenario makes sense. A team doesn't inherently gain an advantage if one of their players gets hurt. Any other position can be replaced/exchanged as many times as a team deems necessary. The only stipulation is a player can't re-enter the game. It's like playing AL rules, then switchIng to NL during the middle of the game.

But again, that's how they made the rules.

No. If the DH moves from DH to a fielding position, then the pitcher must bat. If the DH leaves the game, anyone on the bench can replace him as the new DH

That is not the right interpretation of the rule.

    Okay, they got it half-right.

If a DH is allowed, a DH should always be allowed.

That's how they made rules though.

They're incredible. Great chemistry, and a really nice mix of in-game action, factoids, and anecdotes.

In a nutshell, the rule is simply that the DH can only hit for the pitcher. Once you put him in the field, he is no longer hitting for the pitcher.

I don't know why this is so baffling to you.

You also can't double-switch with the DH slot.

The game is on Root at 6:15? My TV guide is telling me "softball 360" is on at that time.

But the DH spot is still hitting for the pitcher.

If the DH is injured, you're still replacing who's already hitting for the pitcher.

Seems it's just a quirky baseball rule.

If the DH is injured another player can enter the game for him.

It is once the DH takes the field that a team loses the DH.

Yes, I gathered that already. Your previous response explains it better, but it's still a quirky rule.

If the pitcher's spot takes the field, seems you should be able to re-replace the pitcher's spot with whomever. AL turns NL

That thought process shouldn't baffle anyone.
