Oh absolutely. I'd much rather see Musgrove and Peacock in the rotation and Fiers getting mop-up duty. This is a pretty big start for Joe. Need to start keeping an eye on Paulino's progress too.
Feldman sure would look good at the back end of the rotation right now. He kept us in games and was pretty consistent. Haven't paid attention to what he's doing with the Reds, but if I was a betting man I would say his ERA is below 4.00.
2 thoughts on the lineup tonight: 1. Why not give Centeno one more start before McCann rejoins the team? Let Beltran sit one more game. 2. Tony Sipp is just taking up a roster spot at this point. Much more so than Fiers or Musgrove. Time to cut bait, IMO.
??? on Sipp. Weird timing. The guy has given one ER in May for a statline of 1.08 ERA, 9.72 k/9, 2.16 BB/9. He's probably not helping the team much by not getting lefties out, but he's not hurting the team with his production otherwise.
Not a big Sipp fan at all, but he's been surprisingly effective (in pretty much zero-pressure situations) for the last 4 weeks : 8.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R (solo HR), 2 BB, 9 K, 2 inherited runners, 2 stranded. Would be great if he can continue this and get back to his prior form, he could really help take the load off the pen. Plus you never know when you'll need a 7th OFer.
I didn't realize Sipp had been with the Astros that long. I thought it was only Wesley Wright that played the outfield. Sometimes I miss those Bo Porter days.
Sipp in 2014, 2 "games" in the OF. Listening to the O's pregame, I had no idea their pitching went into the toilet about 2 weeks ago and they've lost 10 of 13. That may be the mother of all sample size arguments.
