IMO No. you have a coward in KD that rather coast his way to the finals than compete against the best and on the other end you have the best player in the world going up against a coward in KD who wishes he could be LBJ.

Hope not. Could be at least the best in 5-8 year span though. Not Ever.

Celtics vs Lakers. The storyline. The background. The history. The real rivalry.

Cavs vs Warriors are infant in comparison.

1998 Lakers vs. Sonics had six all-stars. Greatest semifinals ever!

I'll be a Cavs fan for about 2 weeks starting in June. F*** GS, **** KD, ****Curry, **** overrated Klay, and **** dirty donkey Green.

I hope KD remains ringless and Lebron makes both KD and Curry his sons once again. I hope Kyrie gives Steph that work.

Unfortunately no. Warriors will win pretty easily.

Still salty about KD going to GSW then acting like he's a victim. Man, f that dude for ruining the NBA for the next 3-4 years.

Greatest Finals ever is the alternate-dimension '94 Finals where Jordan didn't retire and the Rockets actually faced the Bulls.

All of the Celtics and Lakers in the 80's (except for Kareem who had been traded to the Lakers long before those the rivalry) were with their original teams.

This year's Finals has two of the biggest sellswords in LeBron and Durant.

Good point. I wouldn't even provide the Kareem disclaimer, since he was there for so long.

Only exception for the main players who arrived after both Bird and Magic won their first early rings was DJ. He was there for all the Bird / Magic Finals, though, starting in '84. Of course, DJ wasn't ring chasing, because he already had a ring and Finals MVP.

On a side note: Bird called him the best player he ever played with, noting his smarts and clutchness.

DISCLAIMER: your point was that today Durant bolted to join forces. Well, there was no free agency back then for ppl to join up.

Parish was traded to the Celtics, along with the number 3 pick used to select Milk Hair.

Yep, Auerbach put a big stamp on constructing that team with key trades for eventual HOFers in Parish and DJ, plus to get the picks AND using them on HOFers, McHale ... getting the 2nd pick for Bias, and later picking Reggie Lewis (1988) RIP. One could say that had both Bird and McHale not become chronically injured they could have kept persisting with iron men DJ and Parish around a Lewis nucleus like Duncan/Parker/Gino with Kawhi. Bird and McHale were only 33-34 when Lewis became their 2nd leading scorer.

Don't think this will be competitive at all, 4-1 Warriors take home the trophy.
