Those teams had heart, passion, charisma, hustle and a great attitude. There was no choke or more despicably quit in them.
"Elie out of the corner with the three. Hit it! Mario Elie with a three!" An awesome play by play commentary. Elie' clutch shot notwithstanding, Horry's clutch genes was on full display. His awareness to see the double team coming, make himself available to receive the pass and then have the cojones and confidence to throw a nonchalant pass that sailed towards the stands which Elie thankfully caught and made shot, "Wow!" In those few seconds, Houston's season was in the balance. I am humbled by the team's oneness.
Mad Max with the dagger, cold-blooded three in Game 7 vs Knicks. Dream's tap in to win Game 1 in OT at Orlando should rank up there, too.
It kills me to see those videos sometimes. Those teams were just so exciting and just cohesive. That Barkley trade hurt so bad. Those guys deserved to retire as Rockets.
It doesnt matter man. Dont relieve past history every year bro. How long ago was this When will there be another one of these moment. Theres always next year hoping right
No We will relive clutch city til the end of days There will never be the kiss of death again That's why we hold it in high regard Go ahead and ask the the creator of this site what his favorite rockets moments were Do it
I think it was in 1999 when we had a 26 point lead in San Antonio with Barkley, Pippen and the dream for us to only lose to a buzzer beating three from non other then Mario Ellie. Still remember like it was yesterday. Damn time goes fast.
Watchinh that game live, I was sure Elie was going to dump the ball to Hakeem. Then, after he shot the ball, I was thinking Wtf is that guy doing, only to be followed by sheer happiness. There is good times, and there is Elie's Kiss of Death. Amazing!
Rookie Cassel's game 4 shot with 45 secs left in MSG was huge as well. Down 2 to up 1 and game over. But yes, Dreams tip in as well for sure. I would probably have it above Samson's shot honestly now that I think of it. "Johnson at the buzzer" was huge as well, but we lost the series so it loses a lot of its importance. Had we won that series though, Damn... But a forgotten shot though.... Matt Maloney's 3 pointer in the winding seconds of game 7 against the God damn mother-F Sonics...
It's really sad to see a post like this on this forum. That Rockets team became a blue print to alot of teams.... Championship teams. Before Pop there was Rudy T. Before Duncan it was Hakeem. Before Shaq and Kobe it was Hakeem and Drexler. Before Shaq and Wade it was Hakeem and Drexler as the one 2 punch from inside out. Elie went on to coach and our mentality and heart to the Spurs to win another Ring. Sam Cassell won one in Boston but was amazing in Minnesota and helped take the nets to the playoffs the first time in the playoffs. Horry won enough rings to make him sink to the bottom of the ocean if he wore them to the beach. These players and moments defined this city. Watch rudy's floor spacing and knocking 3's to spread the floor technique. That team was a pioneer in alot of ways to what we saw afterwords. We need to bring Elie back to this organization. We have some talent here, we're just missing a piece or two. What we really need is that Heart.
Why were the Rockets allowed to 'Honestly' compete back in the day? What changed then to now? How can we get back to competitive non-fixed basketball again? When will this happen?
