McCullers only throws more fastballs than everything else in 3-0 counts this season. Makes him hard to hit. Makes it hard for him to pitch deep in games.

It's good to know we can win the 1-0 games.

Gurriel, besides a two week super hot streak, has been pretty crappy - even in the field. Doesnt justify keeping Marwin out of the lineup. I would say give him another 2 weeks or so to get it going.

I hope Jake hits a HR his next time up. He's 13 points away from us being able to say, "the OPS leaders on the team w/the best record in the MLB are Marwin Gonzalez and Jake Marisnick."

Yeah, that's worse than that guy in the GARM saying he'd buy like 10 people dinner from Chili's or something if the Rockets went undefeated in the playoffs and won the championship.

It might also be a good idea to start Marisnick more than once in 5 games after his 2-HR game.

Juan Centeno is a catcher who is taking Brian McCann's spot on the roster while McCann is on the DL.

Serious question - why? There's no real evidence he had anything beyond one good day. I'm pretty the Astros' analytics teams don't look at one-game "hot streaks" as anything with predictive value. By that same measure, they shouldn't have even played him that day because he was 0-for-9 just before that and having a wretched May in general, so someone else should have been starting anyway.

Marisnick also has the 3rd highest OPS on the team. It's more than a 1-game hot streak. His May OPS is almost double his counterpart's (Aoki), not to mention the light-year level advantage defensively.

Did you seriously not consider all of that?

With an ops of .871 and maybe the best defensive outfielder in the league then I'm not sure you are serious.

Honestly I feel way better when Gattis is not catching. The dude probably needs rest anyway with McCann out. As long as this new chum can play solid D I'm okay if he hits like Castro.

No, not at all - because your claim wasn't that he should have played for any of those reasons. It's that he should have played because he hit 2 home runs one day. If you want to argue that he should be the everyday starter or get significant playing time for his season as a whole, then that's a different argument and a case can be made. This b****ing, though, comes routinely after a player has a good day at the plate, so I suspect that's not the argument you were making.

Beyond that, according to Yahoo, he was "day to day" inury-wise in the days after that game, in case that matters at all in the "Hinch sucks" camp. No info on what the injury way, but it was not the concussion (he was listed as healthy during the Marlins series).

Didn't he get hit on the arm pretty badly int he Marlins series? I'm sure that could have something to do with it...
